Well here's the deal. What they're doing is selling the phones before they have them (like on eBay) and when someone orders one from them, they have the "insurance replacement" sent to that address. The deductible is billed to your account, so it isn't as easy to track the person who's committing the fraud, but you can find out where the device went to via UPS tracking.

this gotta be an inside job from sprint or asurion. this is to crazy for all of us have similar stories.

Now that you mentioned it, I bet Acorn members got 2 new Pros.

Anyways, I found several several articles about inside curruption over at Sprint. Some employees where erasing phone bill balances on friends account and charging a fraction of it. They got cought thou. Then theres a article on other Sprint employees stealing account info and selling it. They also got cought. So, it looks like there was a rash of this scam in may of this year. Alot of asurion claims were made by fraud. check your bills.

Btw I found another articlr on this very scam. It says Sprint has a system exploit that allows even pea brain monkeys to hack into sprint and gain control over users accounts. Well, after gaining control they would process orders from assurion as damaged phones and have new phones sent over to the valid users address. Then once the con artist got the tracking number for the orders, they would call ups and ask ups to change the address to another address not connected to the con artist but to rather a abandoned house or business where the con artist would just wait on the delivery date and look for the brown ups truck and grab the package. Simple.

Easy way to fix, Call CS, tell them to put a memo on your account that they have to verfy BOTH Pin code and Security Question, not just one or the other. If a fraudster has both, then you know they work for Sprint, because Asurion doesnt have access to that information, thats why they have to ask you for it during the claims process. On my personal account, everytime i call in i have to verify my pin, my security question and the three out of five (account number, amount of last bill, and social security number) Nextel used to do way back when. It takes like five minutes just to verify my account but at least i know im protected.

not long after I got my new phone from sprint, I noticed that my bill was $1500

after I got a clean pair of shorts, I called sprint and politely asked them what was up.

They sent me to fraud, and we got it figured out. That someone ( they stopped just shy of calling this an inside job) got control of my account, bought 3 phones and activated 3 lines, from inside a store in Pheonix...

I'm just glad I caught this before it hit automatic billing

now, if I could figure out why after my phone gets a call from, in this order,

and some number from nigeria

that my email accounts with passwords saved on my phone get reset... This happened to yahoo and gmail, twice...
