I am actually using an older version of the dark horse gapps(v3/17). They have a newer version, but i think they took the visuals a little over the edge with their recent versions. The 3/17 version is basically just a black version of all the gapps. Unfortunately, since theyre a month old, at least market will autoupdate and change back to its original color scheme. But you still get the cool icons at least.

Here is a link to the most recent DH versions - http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/htc-evo-4g...med-gapps.html

Im not sure if the above linked file still includes maps or not. If it does, you can try it, but if you notice it not being able to update, youll want to remove the maps.apk from the gapps.zip before you flash it. Youll just need to manually install maps from the market.

Here is the link to the 3/17 version, http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13348733/tes...and_extras.zip. Again, I would remove the Maps.apk. I also removed some more apps I didnt want (bobsclock3d, booksphone, etc.) Just enter the zip file, system>app>and your there. You can delete whatever apks in there you dont want. Do be sure about deleting those other google apps especially though, can cause real problems if a few of those are missing.

Good luck!!

Ya no 3500 battery here, just using whatever came stock with it. This Rom and tiamat kernel is great

Re: [4-22-11][ROM] gingerbread-evo-deck [pre7][1.0]

search keywords: proximity brightness sensor lcd screen settings

i'm loving this rom more and more everyday. gingerbread has some nice little tweaks that make for a very great experience.

overclocked the cpu to 1190mhz, my last white 0004 evo could max out at 1267mhz easily, but not sure if its a limitation of the kernal or my new phone.

anyway, here are my LCD Brightness settings if anybody was interested. I've tweaked them as to my liking. set to the lowest brightness for sensor detection while still bright enough to view the screen accurately.
Enabled: Moving Apply moving average filter to sensor data to reduce flicker
Window Length: 10s
Reset Threshold: Currently Disabled
Sample Interval: 2s

Use Custom:
Lower - Upper - Screen - Buttons
0 - 9 - 30 - 255
10 - 40 - 40 - 255
41 - 90 - 60 - 255
91 - 160 - 80 - 255
161 - 225 - 90 - 255
226 - 320 - 100 - 0
321 - 640 - 120 - 0
641 - 1280 - 160 - 0
1281 - 2600 - 200 - 0
2601 - infinity - 255 - 0

Screen Dim Level: 20 (default)
Allow Screen Decrease: Yes
Decrease Hysteresis: 40%

At any rate, anyone else notice my second issue:

I also notice through the RCs and the PREs that the LCD screen does not light up when you move the phone away from my ear.
pre7 has that fixed.
so far i havent had any issues on pre7. everything seems to be working the way it should. my cpu usage is hella down, things are just running correctly. so all holding off, mabe you should flash pre7 if you want a fully working rom anyways, enjoyt every1... 1.0 soon...........

Re: [4-22-11][ROM] gingerbread-evo-deck [pre7][1.0]

anything for the 4G?? I'm flashing pre7 later today...but on 5...I had the 4g radio turn on and then turn itself off. Something experienced when I was on CM nightlies prior to CM7 final.

Not sure about the CPU usage...I have not experienced that problem with any of your builds.

Re: [4-22-11][ROM] gingerbread-evo-deck [pre7][1.0]

two things i don't think you can fix deck. probably just a limitation of gingerbread at this time.

camera app is kinda horrible, no touch spot focus, and focus just generally is horrible. i've replaced with aftermarket app
internet browser is a bit slow to pinch zoom and scrolling.
