The new rom seems like it is dropping the data connection way more than the 2.17. My exchange OTA email is really flaky, I've had to manually do a send/receive a couple of times, and google maps crapped out trying to download maps when driving.

okay, so i got this new rom installed, mostly because of GPS, and I mean, I know what I'm doing so it wasn't difficult at all.

during the install, i froze once, at 11%, saw the tricolor screen, but then it automatically restarted, and finished installing. First Boot took FOREVER, and then i let the sprint customizations run. afterwards, i installed all my programs, and settings, and all that good stuff, and it worked fairly well. IMO, it's definitely slower than 2.17, but i've been reading that a Hard Reset after the initial customization run would help that, so I may try it later.

I do NOT live in a EvDo area (stupid blacksburg), so i only have 1X available, and it works pretty well. my signal seems to be good, and my bluetooth works FANTASTIC. my cousin who has the same phone didnt know i was on bluetooth, and when i told him, he was really surprised and didnt think i was on bluetooth, so that was great.

unfortunately, gps is a different story. i have been trying several times to get it to work, and so far, it has only locked onto the satellites once. now, this is from me sitting in my dorm, (albeit by the window), but it did get a lock on upto 4 satellites. however, the ram usage took a significant hit (after only 2 hours of working, i was down to 15MB) and my battery life was also sucking, so i restarted the phone, and since then I cannot get another lock on the GPS. I'm not sure if it's just some settings, but neither Live Search, nor Google Maps, will get a lock. so, this is getting slightly annoying that my GPS is so weird. I also tried going outside, but after about 10 minutes, i still could not get a lock.

My touchscreen also was really unresponsive/slow for a while, so i had to soft reset, and that fixed that, i'm not sure if it's the rom, b/c i've had some similar experiences with other roms, but those are the only issues I've had with it.

If anyone has some idea onto why the GPS isn't getting a lock, please explain.

Try a hard reset. It seems like most people having GPS trouble say that their problems pretty much go away after doing a hard reset.

My method was this: Flashed the phone, let the sprint customizations run. Hard Reset the phone, let the sprint customizations run. THEN, I hard reset it again, and this time did a soft reset the phone before the customizations could run that time.

But at the very least, try a hard reset. I think that might get you going.

hmm...thanks for the advice. so are the sprint customizations useless as normal? b/c i only let them run thinking that they would somehow aid the GPS in working. but i'll try it without them, and see what happens.

The gist i got was that they needed to run at least after the first hard reset, but then after that you could do it w/o them and it would be fine.

Right now after my latest hard reset, I did not let the customizations run and My GPS is working fine and so is RevA. So take what I say with a grain of salt. it just seems like people have the best luck when they hard reset, let the customizations run, and THEN do it again w/o the customizations. Though the logic in that seems weak to me, so i don't even know if I believe what I just said. But it couldn't *hurt* anything, right?

I had GPS working yesterday. Installed s2u2, htc home plugin, HHC, Live Search, Esmertec Jbed, and Opera Mini. Later on the GPS wasn't working at all so today I hard reset and it started working great. So far it was flash, hard reset because I was stupid and didn't let Sprint customizations run, then today hard reset because it was getting sluggish. Sometimes if Gmaps or Live are trying to lock onto GPS, the phone won't respond for a few minutes. Also, I have the same thing still where after a soft reset it takes 5-10 minutes to get a 1x or EVDO signal. It sits on nothing, then roam, then 1x, and then finally Ev. Last thing, I used to be able to roam on Verizon's EvDO on the DC metro but today it wouldn't let me. That kinds sucks because I lose my signal down there otherwise.

I'm now working with a clean version with no Sprint addons. GPS is working inside the house now and it hasn't froze on me in a little while.

I'll be very glad to see the features stay and the bugs worked out in the final release. Even without WinMo 6.1 or any of that, a working version of this ROM will make me very satisfied with my device. I'm not installing my usual customizations right now because I figure I'll end up hard resetting again this week anyway.

I installed last night, had no problems.I came out to work..which is in a remote place..with only a verizon tower..I have been roaming off there tower with a good connection. Well my phone does not work out here..at all. I was first trying the internet..no dice..I think tried a text..no dice...I then tried a call..of course nothing. My vision profile is not updating automatically..is there a way to go in and input the settings myself..and does anyone have any suggestions on getting my phone to work again.

So does anyone know the steps to manually update your vision services?

A nice trick that used to work (and may still work) was to log into Sprint's online account management, then go to the area where you can change passwords and set permissions for use of Vision and purchases. (settings and passcodes is the name of the menu if you are on the Ensemble billing system).

Change your vision user name or password, and it should automatically send the updates to your device (re-provision).

The standard "may take up to 4 hours" thing is in effect, but usually it happens right away.
