Also, in order to view in landscape mode on the dock with out desc home, you have to slide the keyboard open. I don't like the way it looks on the ddock with the keyboard open...

Re: Anybody wanna see the image burnt in my screen?

The main thing I was trying to point out was that if you have the dock and run the Home dock app the screen can be toggled on and off with the power button. Just don't press too hard or the volume buttons on the bottom push down against the base (another issue altogether). I do agree however that the screen getting damaged by its default behavior of constant on should be addressed by Samsung.

wether you have the dock home software or not, you can turn the screen on and off with the power button. thats what a power button does. breaking news here!

Its not being damaged...The only way I can think of them fixing it aside from increasing the lifespan of the oleds would be to make a dynamic profile where it remembers how long each oled has used each color then mathematically calculates the deterioration rate and adjusts all the other pixels based on the lowest number...that may effect the refresh rate a bit but at the moment the refresh rate a lot faster then standard lcds anyways.

Also guys you may want to theme in a semi transparent notification bar if your worried.

I use Alarm Clock Plus v.2. You can find it in the Marketplace. It puts the display in landscape when you turn the phone on it's side...it also has an included screensaver which activates after x minutes (changeable in settings). It allows you to show a slideshow of your pictures (however, not as a screensaver). Seems to be an all around great alarm clock too! I love it.

Re: Anybody wanna see the image burnt in my screen?

I didn't buy the dock for the Epic, I plan on ditching it the second Sprint gets Windows Phone 7 handsets.
I do, however, use my phone as an alarm clock and keep the screen on at night next to my bed. I use Launcher Pro from my Homescreen and Alarm Clock Plus for the alarm so it does rotate when the phone is turned on it's side and it has options to prevent burn in.
I never thought an AMOLED would have this issue. Now I'm going to be certain to turn the screen off before bed! Just make sure the Alarm Clock is excluded from the task killer list.

Wether its burn in or fade out its not good. This and other issues that people are complaining about on the epic makes me feel better that I stuck with my evo. Only thing replacing my evo is evo 2 or another htc phone that beats evo specs. Maybe even a wp7 phone if it turns out to be a good os.

Re: Anybody wanna see the image burnt in my screen?

according to wikipedia, its burn in.
Plasma & LCD & OLED

Plasma displays are highly susceptible to burn-in, while LCD-type displays are generally less so. Because of the more rapid luminance degradation of current organic compounds used in OLED-type displays, OLED is even more susceptible to burn-in than plasma. In addition, the wide variation in luminance degradation with OLED [1] will cause noticeable color drift over time (where one of the red-green-blue colors becomes more prominent).
Unlike displays with a common light source, the brightness of each OLED pixel fades depending on the content displayed. The varied lifespan of the organic dyes can cause a discrepancy between red, green, and blue intensity. This leads to image persistence, also known as burn-in.

Now lets use plasma TVs as an example:

Quote:
But to digress, burn in, simply put, is a damaged pixel, whose phosphors have been prematurely aged and therefore glow less intensely than those of surrounding pixels on the plasma TV screen. The damaged or "burned in" pixel has developed a "memory" of the color information that was repeatedly fed to it in a static manner over a period of time. And that phosphor color information has actually become seared or etched into the plasma TV glass. Hence the term, "burn-in." Once these phosphors are damaged, they cannot give the same output as the other phosphors around them do. But pixels do not suffer burn-in singly. Burn-in occurs in the shape of a static image that persists on TV screens -- things like network logos, computer icons, Internet browser frames, or an entire image that has been displayed in a static manner etc. Network logos were a problem initially but they have now become sensitive to the problem and have also adapted a motion logo technology which prevents burn in.
Plasma TV Burn In: Is It Still a Problem? at Plasma TV Buying Guide

So whats in the red does happen..BUT..the blue aka actual glass is not "burnt in"...

aka its similar but different >.>
