The main thing I was trying to point out was that if you have the dock and run the Home dock app the screen can be toggled on and off with the power button. Just don't press too hard or the volume buttons on the bottom push down against the base (another issue altogether). I do agree however that the screen getting damaged by its default behavior of constant on should be addressed by Samsung.
