Re: Omnia Gets REALLY Hot
Update: I tried to hard reset my memory card one more time and found that it would fail everytime. I got another memory card I remembered I had and found that the phone didn't even recognize there was a card inserted. So the HOT card problem was card related I believe, I think this other card I got is faulty too. Anyone else have these issues with garbage memory quality?

Re: Omnia Gets REALLY Hot
it seems that alot of people are having trouble with cards purchased from e-bay (no surprise) but I don't remember the details. Sandisk I believe was the brand and specifically those without the packing. They can came in a case with a SD adapter but where not sealed.

Re: Omnia Gets REALLY Hot
i wonder what you guys are doing with your phones to make them heat like that.
i bought a in-store branded micro sd card at my local microcenter, and there has been no issue with it at all. i dont charge my phone thru the usb, but if i was doing that i would use one of the ports at the back of the pc, because the ports there keep full voltage, or so said the instructions with my zune. mine will get warm if i am doing a lot of surfing, but not to the point of smelling plastic. i also flash a bunch and i have never had it get hot doing that either.

i got my pny card from a retail store and not ebay and i do charge on a back usb 2.0 port. im not sure if its the card cause i took that out and it still gets hot. Im not sure, i think its the rom being overclocked like i seen a post on here had already said. is there a program to check out the speed of the processor? *edit* its not like i want to charge by usb but i use it to transfer files, but im just going to start transfering by BT Last edited by cg83; 06-07-2009 at 02:42 PM. |

Re: Omnia Gets REALLY Hot
If you messed with it by flashing than i doubt it. Also i am almost positive its the processor getting hot from being used weather its overclocked or not. When it gets hot it means ther is more power being used so your battore drains faster. if if you have stock rom than i do not know. If you have flashed are you using your phone alot more to download sync reflash and other things or just playing with the new features. So it could be an isue with just over use. be carefull what you add to the phone that could be a problem. Some programs may trickle power even when off and could add up. Only add what you need keeping main memmory alone unless you have you. Try expiermenting not using features to pinpoint an issue. Like use just as a phone all day and see what happens. Then add one more feature like data conection. than wifi blutooth and so on. If it gets hot wile of the charger after a soft reset and just using phone only than you have a different proble and it might be indivuadle batches of phones caus lots of people do not have that issue.

my thinking was that maybe ya'll were running a bunch of programs all at once, and that was stressing the processor, and making big heat. i did, however, read today if you want to charge your phone via usb, it should be either turned off, or set to mass storage mode under connections (like you do when you flash). dunno if it's true, but may be worth testing to see. i will check around and see if there is a program that would show processor load, like process explorer i use on my desktop. |
