3. Finger Friendly Menu Popups - Well wasn't this expected in WM7?
4. New Look - Pfft....please WM7 has an entirely different look so 6.5 is irrelevant
5. O last but not least, Stability and Speed - Yea right, 6.1 is more stable then that (I know it's a beta) but WM7 is an entirely different SYS

So really...the main differences in 6.5 and 6.1 are not even in WM7, so what is the point? Since you say that 6.5 is incorporated in 7?
I personally dont think that 6.5 was ever supposed to be a preivew to WM7, rather just a release to tithe people over until 7 is released. With the complete rewriting of WM, it is unlikely that it will be fully functional on our devices. However, 6.5 is. And it serves its purpose well to increase usability and friendliness of the WM UI.

Personally I like 6.5 and I think it is an indication that MS is headed in the right direction. I do not think that 6.5 is a giany leap by any means, (and it was never meant to be) but it is definitely a couple steps in the right direction. I think WM will be fine in the future and has the potential to be great. The release of WM7 is a 'make it or break it' sort of thing and MS knows this. If WM7 is a bust, MS will lose consumer interest and support for some time. I don't think it will be a bust though. As long as MS implements all of the things that make WM the best platform available while making it accessible through a ridiculously easy UI, WM will be just fine.

I think that a large factor in determining the success of WM7 will be marketing and the ability to attract develpers which, in some sense, will go hand in hand. Good marketing --> large attraction of consumers and developers. I think the freedom of developing whatever you want for WM will provide great attraction as long as the devices will sell. As far as marketing, this is huge. The iPhone is a huge success partially because it is a great phone, but more so because Crapple did a phenomenal job marketing the phone. They lead the public to believe that the iPhone was the first phone to play music view YouTube and many other things. Windows needs to market on this level and now has the added challange pulling consumers away from the iPhone (pre smree, android smandroid)

Anyhow, this is a long post so I will stop writing now.

See I never said 6.5 was, but anyways it is so true, when the iPhone first came out the marketed it like it was the first Touch Screen phone....and it wasn't

Have you ever noticed that there is not 1 commercial for a WM Device? Amazing right? Just imagin how well HTC and other WM devices would be is they commercialized them...instead the carriers just publicize their Dumbphones: I.E. Sprint's Instinct, Verizon's Storm, Alltel's Razr, and AT&T's iPhone

I think its tough for WM to actually market a device since there are like a million different phones which support the platform. MS move to increase the minimum hardware requirements for a WM7 phone is a smart one. If they can limit the amount of phones running WM7 that are on the market, they will be able to advertise more universally; and consistency in WM7 devies will be universal across the board. Granted, we'll have less phones to play with, but the one's we will have will all be phenomenal and on par with each other, (no more will there exist drastic differences between WM devices such as the TP vs the Mogul on WM6.1).

And yeah, I know sooooo many people who think that the iPhone was the first phone ever to support a touch screen.

yes and no. I agree to most, but they should still advertise more than the nothing that they do now. haha.
But I do agree with the less phones how it would be easier for them to advertise, but still, they should be able to still advertise.

And I know sooooo many that think the Iphone was the first for tons of things when it really was not.

I totally agree. I never meant to imply that I thought they should not advertise at all. Even with the phones they have now, they could market very well to a variety of audiences. Why don't they? Who the eff knows!

Oh, and read the last 2/3 and let me know what you think of the rest.

okay, I agree with the second third of it.
the last part I partially agree with.
Mainly the part about the iphone being a "great" phone.
hahahahahahahaha. granted it is ALOT better now,
and isn't too bad of a choice thanks to the 3.0 OS.
But.......looking at the first two version and up to about a month ago when 3.0 came out, it was a horrible phone and only sold due to the product placements and EXTREMELY overdone advertising/brainwashing that apple had done.
But other than that, I agree 100% with your post.
