Re: Verizon GPS not working anymore
In case anyone else is running on XP and having problems getting the drivers to install (going to the New Hardware Wizard instead of installing) - see the following thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=462712
KManuel74 over @ XDA pointed me in the right direction. |

Re: Verizon GPS not working anymore
Did you go through this process?
http://wiki.ppchaven.com/index.php?t...IX_VERIZON_GPS There are links there to everything you need, (in terms of getting your radio right - downgrade, then work your way back up). Then, of course, you have to do the aGPS hack: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...VerizonAGPSFix Is that where you're getting hung up? (I haven't gone back and read all of your posts). Once I got through getting the drivers installed (which was weird because I'm on XP), the rest was smooth sailing. Finally, I configured for Telus, which made my sat locks WAY better. Re: Verizon GPS not working anymore
I have the leaked verizon ROM version: 3.14.605.1, Radio Version: 3.37.77. I had my gps working previously with Valhalla and by using QPST, my gps went down when everyone elses did. I tried several things and due to being unable to uninstall Valhalla I did a hard reset. Since then, I have reinstalled Valhalla according to the XDAD Verizon MR1 GPS fix instructions but still nothing. I am trying to use Live Search.
Please Help! |

Here is a VERY complete solution with a few notes that got me up and running from a worse-case scenario.

Re: Verizon GPS not working anymore
GPS Locking quick using the Telus IP on WM 6.5 over here. I was having problems with the old IP, but switching to the Telus seems to have fixed the problem...
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...VerizonAGPSFix This was also helpful on getting me going because after much tweaking I must have screwed somthing up and it would take about 15 min to connect to the network after soft reset: http://ppc.stoleyour.net/xv6800/ The phone is taking (forever) to acquire service after the flash. Solution: Toggle M.IP PST Settings If the phone doesn't have a signal, dial *22803 or *22802 and hang up when you get a signal. Now that your phone has a signal, you dial ##778, it should bring up a program, press 'Edit'. The unlock code is 000000 for Verizon users. Select "View Info" > "M.IP Settings" Change MIP_MODE, Reg. Retries, Reg. Timeout, and Pre-Reg. Timeout to other values. Soft-reboot your phone. When you acquire a signal again, dial ##778 once again. Go back into Edit > View Info > M.IP Settings. Change the values back to what they were: MIP_MODE = M.IP Preferred, Retries = 2, Retry Timeout = 1750ms, Pre-Reg Timeout: 0.

Re: Verizon GPS not working anymore
Now that it is working again, is it just me, or is the accuracy off by approx. 10-15 feet? I did all the fixes and everything works just fine with less than 30 second first locks. 7 to 9 satellites all the time. However, I seem to be off by one lane of traffic. Never seemed that way before the problems began. Does this have something to do with the baud rate?
I have the 6.1 upgrade pre official release, customizations run and valhalla installed with all the newest registry tweaks. |

yet! I have trouble getting useful results when using thread search, so I really don't want to post information that seems redundent. That said, I am using OMJ.3.09.Manilla.v2 with Windows 6.1, radio 3.42.50, and I did the QPST radio changes which made the GPS work correctly. When the GPS quit working and when I had trouble with the camera not functioning correctly, I tried warm and cold or soft and hard resets. It was the hard reset that made the camera work, so I started on the GPS next. After every reset, I always go into Start\Settings\Connections and select the Connections icon. I select the Manage Existing Connections link and delete the Data Network #777 setting. I'm not sure, but I think this disables the aGPS operations. I just know that my phone uses this setting for network operations that Verizon charges me whenever the phone applications access it. I don't know why the registry information for the IP Address ServerIP = 66.174.95.132 or the ServerPort = 8888 would be used if the network phone connection is disabled, as I stated above, however when entered as shown, I am able to connect to the internal GPS and use the FreeCaddie golf program. I don't know if this helps and I'm still learning how all these modifications work, but I'm very glad to be able to connect to a forum like this and find so many helpful and creative people willing to share. Thanks to all! Rob ![]() Last edited by robarteman; 04-18-2009 at 03:13 PM. |

Re: Verizon GPS not working anymore
If you are using the Agps fix. Deleting #777 is not going to block data connection since the gpsOne chip adn the QPST settings will use the IP and port to get data which verizon will charge you for.
Best option to use GPS in standalone mode. Can anyone Let me know if I am wrong about this. |
