looking forward to the weather fix

i forgot where i got this from but here it is.. u replace other xml file

http://rapidshare.com/files/114286323/HH_0409_WeatherCities.rar.html

as for custom alarms you just need to convert your mp3 files into wav files and then drop them into your Windows folder, try and keep them small in size cause when i tried a full song it didnt work.. then soft reset and they will then show up in alarms/settings.. i think it can't be bigger then 10mb.. if it is it prob won't play

Call #8899 to go straight to tech support.
Once you're talking to them, tell them when you try to call you get a "can't authenticate message."
Calls come in, but you can't make calls.
Tell them you tried the #228 stuff, and reseting, but nothing worked.

When we called, he checked some stuff, then told us to remove the battery and wait 30secs before replacing it.
Once the phone was back on, it worked fine.

Re: Verizon VX6900 - Altell ROM

Does anyone know what causes the problem w/ authentication on the XV6900?
I'm on Sprint, and I flash new roms everytime something new comes out.
This problem doesn't exist on the Sprint Touch.
I'm trying to get my friend into making custom roms, but if he has to talk to tech support after every new rom, I think it will get old, quick.

Re: Verizon VX6900 - Altell ROM

ill try that xml file, i think thats the same one i posted on this thread earlier. i cut out everthing except philly too. and didnt work. and tried resettting it to read only as some threads said. still didnt work. soft reset after each time as some threads recommended. didnt work. hmmm maybe ill just use Yahoo plugin for my news/weather.

my phone dropped today lightly on the office carpet, and the back popped open and battery popped out too haha. flimsy back. prob will buy a silicone skin off ebay

Anyone see the iphone skins/plugins? crazy cool! maybe wait until they get all the kinks worked out, but someone said he was running them on his VX6900. http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=11507

tried GPS again today, was off again. didnt lock after 20m, but it was cloudy again in Philly. whats all the stuff in GPSViewer mean? like...
1. Power Save - does this use minimal power when searching for signal? why shouldnt i always press this? how about the option next to it WAA somethin.
2. Hot, Cold, Warm Start? when should i press these?
3.'Aquiring 3D' message: does that mean it has pretty much locked except for height?, Google maps should be usable now right, since dont need height info for 2D directions?

I more concerned with getting GPS to work, than the MMS stuff (aka the sending pics via phone right?).
Always got my reg ole' camera or use Activesync to get photos off the phone.

Thanks for the reply. I called for a rep for the third time on the authentication issues. MUCH better support this time around. She tried to send me the update over the phone, but it failed. A previous tech asked me to do a hard reset on the phone and she explained to me that a the phone loses it's authentication key that way. Now, if you're still with me, be careful here. She guided me to changing my authentication key manually by dialing ##778. This takes me into back settings of the phone. I hit the Edit button and enter a six digit password of all 0's. There is an abundance of phone/network information from here. I had to enter in my A-Key as it was blank, a 26 digit code the tech supplied me. I saved the settings, the phone rebooted, and made two successful test calls. Whoohoo!

Did you literally set it to that url? or copy the xml and put it under the default place i see it is www.arcsoft.com/mobile//UAProf/ArcSoft-MMSUA-PPC-v42.xml?
Curious for the former option , since the url is down currently.

Also i installed the cab but dont see MMS in my Messaging, do i need a reg value set to see it there as myabe was implied in earlier post?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...364043&page=30 only other place i saw mention of Arcsoft 4281.reg, has a attachment, should i run that?
Not sure how to run that with Total Commander, or PHM Reg Edit. Double clicking on it gives error and Import option greyed out in PHM Editor (which i suspect cause it says "It is not possible to import registry files (.reg) yet.", guess they left the menu item in there though ). EDIT: Guess i copy the file to ///registry and it just will know to import it?

kinda confused on the steps here soccer past installing the cab!

btw, weather thing finally worked. needed a few soft resets hehe.

Re: Verizon VX6900 - Altell ROM

Regarding Custom cubes: If you want to modify your stock TouchFlo cube to something like an icube or Vistacube or some of the other awesome custom cubes you have to install an updated cube that supports altell/6.1. Once I got the newer cubes they worked fine.

Side note: I am in SF right now and everything seems to be off kilter here. GPS doesn't lock and EVDO signal seems out of whack. I can only get 380Kbps via laptop tethering here. Is it Verizon in SF or is my phone out of whack? Do i need to do *228 here option2 here?

Has anyone traveled after the Altell upgrade? Anyone seen this?

On the way to the airport, I had GPS lock, Live Search mapping turn by turn the whole way.
