Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!

Quote:
I would say it did not work for you. What were the exact steps you took?
1. Unlocked stock device with Cokemans unlocker 2.31

2. Put Alltel leaked rom ... on to upgrade radio.

3. Then realized OMJ recommended the 3.37 radio - so I dl'd the Sprint Leaked from his 1st post and flashed Sprint over the Alltel. Did not let ANY Alltel or Sprint customizations run - ever.

4. Then Flashed - OMJ Verizon Custom Rom ... played around on that - no GPS joy and < 500k Verizon Data internet speeds - as far as I could tell.

5. Had to call Verizon tech support to get Data Access and Calls to work. The first time they gave me no AKEY to install - they just reset something on their end had me dial *832 I think and one other ... and all was jolly ...

6. Did some reading and saw the post by Ghetto about just running Sprint PPST.exe - using GetSPC for the MSL etc ... and then the EPST from sprint as a possible solution or better GPS ... since I was getting NO GPS Action at that time, I gave that a whirl. DRAMA .... was the result. Im sure I screwed up somewhere in that procedure.

7. Flashed BACK to the Sprint Leaked ROM - performed the ##786# - which reset the device in ways I do not understand. Somewhere along the lines - and I dont understnd where and how - the PRI went from 1.x to 2.x back down to 1.x - as per ghettos plan. Why this is good or how it happened? Sorry Im a doofus on this issue. Just tried to do as instructed.

8. The Unlock code for verizon devices to perform the reset at the ##786# step is 6 zeros - 000000. Dont bother with GetSPC and the hex code under the battery and all that for verizon - waste of 2 hrs for me ...

9. I thought I needed to flash up to a vzw rom here - but alas - maybe not ...so thats what I did next - OMJ Verizon full custom. Let the customizations from this rom run - its vzw so all good right?

10. then dialed - *228 - option 2 - let it run

11. then *228 selected option 1 - let it run - gave indications it ran and did what it was supposed to.

12. Calls to land lines and other cells - no go at this point. Not net access either.

13. Called Vzw tech support - said a friend is developing a software app for the HTC and it crashed - needed to do a Hard Reset. need a new akey - they thought that was a little weird - but obliged me. gave me a 26 digit AKEY - showed me how to install and then reset.

14. Calls now work - but no net access. So Vzw tech resets somehting on his end - and we verify my data access username and password info - was missing username - so we added it - your10digitcell#@vzw3g.com ... and damn it I should have written down the password!!! Duoh!

15 - Reset - now Data / Net access works.

16. No GPS at all still at this point.

17. See a post about Changing the GPS mode from 911 to Location : ON

18. Fixed item 17 and got GPS for 1st time. My GPS works about like most other folks - 3-15 minutes to lock in most areas - 4 locks tops - maybe 5 if lucky ... in Orange County , CA.

19. Just switched the reg setting for gps mode from 2 to 4. I find sats lightening fast - but just no locks with GPS Viewer. So far - this is from the casa. We'll see more tomorrow in open spaces about town.

Sooooooo.... Having fun yet? lol

I did this today on a fresh Telus Vogue

Flash 2.31 SPL, flash Sprint Leaked Rom, run ppst, update PRL, provision phone, then flash custom rom, in that order. Boom 7 sats from basement window, 12 from outside. In like 30s to a minute. So Im not imagining this, atleast for Telus users. For you, you might need to so this, but Im not promising anything

Flash 2.31 SPL, flash Sprint Leaked Rom, run ppst, update PRL, flash custom rom, provision phone

Im not sure if the order needs to change for Verizon.

I get about 5 on average inside and out. Did you do a reset using EPST as well? I didn't do that...

It turns out you cannot do the *22803 with Bell (tried before and after a custom ROM). When you dial it goes to an automated operator and you follow the voice prompts. But when you enter 1 or 2 it says "your phone is not eligible for an over the air update".

Will try it out tomorrow and see how the GPS works.
So, do you currently have any problems without being able to complete *22803?

Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!

My phone got messed. After I did the ##786# my phone number changed to a bunch of zero's and I couldn't dial out or get a data connection. I called tech support and they helped me reset my phone (if anybody runs into this issue, call tech support or message me and I'll give you the steps to return to your original number).

Trying again now and I WILL NOT DO THE ##786# STEP. I think thats what screwed me. Will post update after rerunning everything.

what do you mean by update prl? is that what the ppst does on its own? Also, what do you mean by provision phone?

THanks

Did you let customizations run on the Sprint ROM?

After ##786, you need to re provision your phone. Thats what *228 or @22803 does. If you are on verizon, can you send me a working rom with *228, and I will make a cab to restore this for you so you dont have to call tech support

PRL = Preferred Roaming List, *22803 option 2
to provision your phone, *22803 option 1.

After more testing, i would provision first, then update the PRL
