Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!

Hi Ghetto - thanks for all of your help with this. I followed the steps below and am stuck on the second step 3 - I dial ##786# from the dialer and a white screen with some sort of grid pops up for a second and disappears (I assume this screen is what I need to do the rest). I' ve installed both cabs so I should have the correct epst - how can I fix this?

BTW I'm with Bell using vetvito's 3.1 rom. Also now the phone has me in "International" mode and says I'm roaming...

2) settings:external gps: program port=com 4, hardware=none, baud=4800, manage gps=checked

You may have already checked these but just in case.
Yes - now the phone works as a phone ...and internet browser.

Items 1 and 2 in your post needed to be corrected on my device - once there, I got some GPS action. I got about 10 minutes into my drive to work and got about 8-10 sats and locks onto 3 - 5 randomly with GPS viewer.

GPS is working pretty good - but no where near 30 seconds to lock 4 + sats ... 3 minutes - 15 minutes depending on the area.

Without doing 2>5, you will get damn annoying IOTA errors, but everything still works. Good Luck
Sorry if this is a dumb question..
I do not see PPST.exe in the windows folder...
I'm using Resco Explorer...showing hidden files and system files
Any help please?

Presumably, if you aren't with either Altell or Sprint, there isn't a PPST.exe that will help you out.

Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!

sput - change the gpsmode reg key from 2 to 4, reset, and see if that helps lock quicker. It's under hklm:software:htc:supl_agps

If it does then we may have an answer for the Verizon touch and ppst. If so, it would help for you to explain what you ended up doing with verizon support to get the phone dialing and internet.

I would say it did not work for you. What were the exact steps you took?

Yes, that is correct. I did it on a fresh vogue earlier today. Flash 2.31 SPL, flash Sprint Leaked Rom, run ppst, update PRL, provision phone, then flash custom rom, in that order

Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!

I'm with Bell - what I mean by International mode is that instead of saying Bell as the carrier it says International. There is a big R in the status bar (for roaming) and every call says something like "<Caller name and Phone #> You are in Roaming mode and may incurr a charge>". And GPS see's many satellitess but no lock even after 15 mins.

Oh well... I'll reload the Sprint Rom and try again.

Thx.

Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!

Alright - quick update. (FYI I'm with Bell) I installed the sprint rom and followed Ghetto's steps.

I installed the ppst cab that was included with the ROM and and then ran ppst.exe - this ran successfully. Typed ##786# from the phone and clicked menu>reset. Entered MSL - all went well.

It turns out you cannot do the *22803 with Bell (tried before and after a custom ROM). When you dial it goes to an automated operator and you follow the voice prompts. But when you enter 1 or 2 it says "your phone is not eligible for an over the air update".

Will try it out tomorrow and see how the GPS works.
