So, you saying that if I'm not in the Sprint network the GPS won't work? If that's true then that's the problem since here (Mexico) I use a different carrier network (to avoid international roaming fees).

BTW, GoogleMaps always says that it seems like my device isn't compatible with My Location (but the GPS option is available, just that it never finds anything). All of you get the same warning with the new ROM?

I could give a shot to that ROM you mention but before that... is there any tool that test the GPS? I sort of remember there's one that checks the COM ports and stuff like that but can't remember the name.

Thanks again

Your Sprint Touch is on a CDMA network, right? (I wasn't sure if you meant you were using another phone for now.)

Anyways, your GPS SHOULD work without a cellular signal... What I wonder, is since your phone has never been on a Sprint tower with the new ROM (clearly it's expecting a Sprint network,) then maybe there are certain 'flags' that aren't being set properly...

Honestly, try loading DHarvey's latest... you might be surprised...

You are thinking of GPSViewer... you can find it all over the place...

Well, from I can tell, people are getting GPS to work on all carriers... if you flash the right ROM/radio...

the degree of "amazingness" depends on your carrier, and certain settings/provisions...

Well, that's pretty much more than what I get if you take in count that I've NOTHING!!!

BTW, even when the Reg. trick didn't work for me either, at least my GPS is now working

Obviously it was thanks to you. And just in case someone wondering, I didn't install the DHarvey's ROM but reviewed his thread carefully and duplicated his GPS process'/tricks/hacks to make it work in my 3.03.651.4

After I confirmed the GPS was working with GoogleMaps I uninstalled all the hacks and mods and it is still working (without all the extras). Seems a little like what ScrapMaker suggested about the GPS being still slept in ice but now that he tasted the blood no one can stop him

So, thank you all for helping this frustrated lady with this. Feel free to ask for specific details if ever in the same situation.

Kisses and Regards

So what exactly did you do to fix it?

I bet he did exactly what the "Assisted GPS Hack.cab" does...

a bunch of registry changes...

Sounds like it was a combination of radio/registry/and the fact that the GPS had never been used on the Sprint network.

"thirst for blood" -- hilarious...

Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!

An interesting experience yesterday. Apologies if already posted.

I had been using my Touch as primary phone, until I got my Treo 800w (a free swap for my old Mogul). So I did an online ESN swap to my Treo.

So, while my Touch was de-activated, I installed the new ROM, installed Garmin XT, and Garmin works just fine with the onboard GPS receiver using the Intermediate GPS driver.

Must be just enough network connection remaining for GPS to work. I've always noticed that a de-activated phone still gets voicemail alerts...
