try "edgeway pocketpc utilities" it shows discharge rate in mA..

mine is ~ 30 mA in the "far niente" state with lowest screen brightness,
and it can go up to 200 with GPS active, and up to 400 mA with both GPS and data connection active.. (which is still 0.5% per minute only)

Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!

Many people have reported this before. Using the usb cable connected to computer (or other) charges your phone fairly slowly and the GPS will actually cause your battery still drain even while charging.

As for the usb to wall socket charger, depending on what you're running (as said above GPS and data) I've seen my battery stay at an even level of charge, but never go down. Usually it will still charge, but at a reduced rate because you're using the processor for the calculations.

Now, if you are running PPST manually as you mentioned you won't see anything. If you want to see the results change these registry entires:

[HKLM\Software\OEM\PPST]

DisableBackupEFS - Dword=1
Silent - Dword=0
StayInCE - Dword=0
Succeed - Dword=1

Soft reset and rerun PPST.exe manually. You'll get the GUI this time.
After I did the reg edit and I ran PPST.exe it says Radio offlined, updating, and then it resets. Is what's supposed to happen?

My GPS works fine with Live Search and Google Maps, but not with Sprint Navigation. When I launch Sprint Navigation it tells me that it can't find any GPS satellites and my signal is too weak. I haven't been able to check if SprintNav works since I'm at work and my phone is dead , but you think that help me get a lock with SprintNav?

Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!

Dudes! I have some serious problem with my GPS!

I have already applied the official HTC upgrade (July 21) 3 times (no MicroSD, let the customizations to run properly), performed about 6 hard resets and many soft resets and still not GPS at all --or that seems like.

Localization is on, I'm outdoors, etc.

I'm trying with Live and Google Maps but there's no answer from the GPS.

I just found that if I dial ##33284# and select GPS all fields say N/A, even if I'm trying to use Live or Google Maps.

So, could some body please help me out? Any suggestion will be appreciated.

Regards.

Have you ever tried GPS on a previous ROM, and it worked?

If it's NEVER worked, and it doesn't work with the LATEST official *.4_2 ROM, then you can take it into the store and get it exchanged... since it's defective...

For grins, can you try loading DHarvey's latest 2.9 Black Vista ROM? I have had amazing results, and I haven't run PPST or anything (except when I previously installed the Sprint ROM.)

No, it was just like new before I flashed (no cooked ROM nor leaked).

Yeap, you are right. Was just trying to avoid that and make it work since I'm in Mexico for instance (job) and won't be back to the States in a couple months.

Thanks.

Understood. Do you get Sprint coverage where you are? If not, GPS will not work nearly as well, because A-GPS is not possible. Oh.. and things like PPST probably won't work correctly... if the new radio has never even connected...

Either way, try loading DHarvey's ROM... the only thing I can throw out.. since it already has all the GPS tweaks in it...
