Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!
Alrighty, so after everything is all said and done, your PRI will more then likely be your carrier one, however, the gps portion should stick from the 2.03 PRI. My gps nows locks on 8 sats, in 3 seconds in my basement, where before it could maybe get 4 sats in 15 minutes

Your quoting a Warm Start time which is TOTALLY meaningless.

Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!
How is what he said meaningless? He said that his GPS connected in 3 seconds which has been my similar to my experiences after getting the new ROM installed. Now whether that is a cold start or a warm start, I don't know, but I do know that turning GPS on after either a long period of the phone in standby or a short period will get a lock within 15 seconds most of the time. This is a whole lot better than it was getting before, which is all he was saying.

Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!
Ghetto - you may be on to something. I have a Sprint touch and a Verizon touch. Here's my setup on both:
- 2.31 unlocker - sprint 3.37.15 rom (no customization ran on either) - OMJ's 3.02 OEM for Verizon and Sprint. - pri on Verizon 1.37_002, pri on Sprint 1.33_002 This is before ppst.exe (on the Sprint only), I was getting 5-7 gps locks outdoors almost always on both touchs using Garmin. Occationally I would have to prime them with gpsviewer. I then ran ppst.exe on the Sprint (changing my pri to 2.03..). My Sprint started getting 10-15 gps locks very quickly, no priming. Nothing special here because we now know that ppst.exe fixes Sprint. Here's where it get interesting. As a test, I ran your ##786 (pulls up Reverse Logistics Support) and hit menu-reset. As I thought, it reset the Sprint's pri to 1.33_002. I had to go back through programming my number in Sprint (FYI - you can't do *228, you have to enter your number in epst programming). After getting my number working I tried Garmin again. I expected it to go back to 5-7 gps locks.... but I still got 10-15 gps locks! It acted just like it had 2.03 on it! I will test this some more and report back, but this reverse logistics support reset might be the answer to loading ppst on non-Sprint touchs. I really think it writes something in the area where the radio rom resides that doesn't get erased when you go back to 1.33 using the logistics menu reset. I'm itching to try this on my Verizon phone but I can't pull up the reverse logistics screen. I tried all combinations of ##786#, ##786 send, etc. but nothing pulls it up. I think the codes must be different to get to it on a Verizon phone. Any help would be appreciated. Hope this helps! EDIT: I ran "ppst.exe ##786" manually on the Verizon touch and nothing came up. I think that the reverse logistics support page doesn't exist on Verizon. Hmm... Unrelated... Ghetto - where can I get the color icons for htc home and the dialer skin that are on by default on your 7.0 and 7.1 rom? Last edited by jspesp; 05-30-2008 at 12:46 AM. |

Re: Sprint still having GPS problems? Try this!
I did both. What I haven't done yet is ppst.exe on the Verizon phone. I'm hesitant to do this because, unlike the Sprint ##786, there is no way I can see to reverse the pri like you can do with Sprint. Any thoughts?
BTW - where can I get the color icons for htc home and the dialer skin that are on by default on your 7.0 and 7.1 rom? |
