Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
For those of you replacing your phones and know the options available, what would you say is the best as in:
1) battery life 2) It's a phone 1st, a ppc/pda 2nd 3) fairly easy enough to pick up quick. I am thinking of trading it in for my girl so she can get rid of her centro that is an equal POS! She does use a lot of options on it though. At least I have another TP that works well so i'll just switch that over to my main line and put the pos centro on my 2nd line. tia!

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
So here is my partial success story-
My 3rd TP was fine until today when I unplugged it from the car charger and got really hot- after 1 call during lunch it died. Took it to a third party shop at Bunker Hill, Houston and the tech said there was something wrong with the phone and would trade it out for anything but another TP1. Unfortunately, they sold the last TP2 yesterday. He said the computer showed the TP2 was OOS (maybe he was referring to refurbs as others have had the same story) and recommended I got to a corp store. He also promised to notate my account. I drove to a corp store and they at first wanted to get me a 4th TP1. That's when I committed a cardinal sin and stated I wanted a TP2- I was told to got there to get one and to check my record or call the store I just left. Finally, the manager agreed to get me one- but it wont be in until Wed. No word on Reburb/Nib but at this point I got my foot in the door. So after my experience and what I read- it seems the third party stores seem more likely to trade out for a TP2 but the Corp stores have more power. Hope that helps someone else... |

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Hi, I got my tp1 replaced with a tp2. It came in the mail today and when i took it out of the box, it had a couple of scratches and chips on the body. Not sure what to do. I called sprint and they told me to take it to a corporate store and explain to them that i just got it in the mail today and that's the way it was, and see if they will swap it out, should i just leave well enough alone or go and get it swapped out?
Also when i did a search for the closest repair center it came up as Sprint store by underground comm??? Is this a sprint store or a third party place? Does it make a difference or should i take it to a offical sprint store? |

I would say you've got nothing to loose but go and show them the phone- the earlier the better(though sometimes cosmetic stuff may not be a valid issue or they may blame user abuse). BTW- was this a refurb or a supposed "Nib" phone? |

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I got my TP2! But I must admit, there was nothing wrong with my TP at all. So instead of trying to get Sprint to give me one for free (which I tried to do at first but still ended up with a TP anyways) I found a corporate deal (my best friend works for one of the companies that offer discounts) that got me the TP2 for 199.99 -100 MIR - 50 coupon 50 Mutha#$(^in' BUCKS!!! That is a whole lot better than stressing with all these customer service folks.
Good luck to you all, I'd recommend going the legit route. Its faster, its less stressful and quick (I got mine the next day). |

i'm getting my tp2 from a non corporate store. sprint directed me to go to my nearest repair center, (which i did). here in daytona, the corp store doesn't have the repair center. |

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
my sad tale of woe has finally come to an end, i got me some lovin from the sprint corp store. i previously went thru numerous repair center visits and half dozen calls to tech support and they had kept telling me the diagnostics came back fine on my phone and they couldnt duplicate the issues i was having (random reboots, overheating in calls, waking up sometimes to a white screen, daily windows errors, etc). they wouldnt even replace with a refurb tp1. so i went thru the online exchange and got another tp1 sent. i figured it had to be better than my constantly messing up one, and i had a good chance it would have documented issues to warrant replacement anyway.
the refurb worked much better, altho had a few sticky kb keys. 4 days after i got it tho, i was in the next town over for my sons lego league competition, and tried to use the gps to find my way around. found out the gps on my new refurb was messed up and would sit at seeking satellites forever and never lock on. i took it to the corp repair store there which is the one i had been visiting with my other phone over the past two months. they did a hard reboot and gps worked fine after that, but the rep told me if gps acted up again, they'd put me into a new handset, and showed me the options including tp2. he said he'd put notes on my account stating such, and agreed i could just call instead of come in again if the gps continued acting up since i live 45 mins away. i checked gps a lot over the next two days, and it went back to doing the same thing, just seeking satellites and not locking on, or locking on for 5 seconds then seeking again, over and over. so i called the store and talked to someone, had to point out multiple times i was told they would put me in a new handset, and had to clear it with the store assist mgr. they ended up getting me a refurb and ordered in a battery for it, and i picked it up last night. it is beautiful. and well worth the two month effort and all the phone calls and store visits. definitely what i wanted from the tp1 and was horribly disappointed not to get. i do miss the flashlight and tab key, but after watching a few videos on it, i can live without those things. so keep trying if you got a messed up tp1, and hopefully you will get some lovin before too long. im not sure about the asc stores, but at least at the corp stores they call you for a survey after your visit about how satisfied you were with their service, and if you are lucky, you will come upon a rep who really really wants a good survey response from you =) |
