I think this is a case of a regional memo and 1-2 people getting a TP2 snow balling here on PPCGeeks. It is not that easy but still possible. DO NOT expect every TP TEP exchange to get replaced with a TP2 - this is NOT the new policy as some in this thread may have you believe.
I was personally told I the TP2 was one of the options when in stock

I took my TP in today 10/24/2009.

1 key board was working when it wanted to.
2 half of screen was black when on landscape mode.
3 iternet problem reports.
4 battry heats up.
5 3rd timed i had to replace this phone.

One hour later the final report is "CUSTOMER ELIGEABLE FOR AN UPGRADE TP2 DUE TO TO MANY REPLACEMETS" I WILL BE GETTING A TP2 NEXT WEEK!
I hope this helps someone else...out with the old in with the new...holler!

Damn I literally went in this morning and they are sending me another TP1.... They said OOS on the TP2... Where in Ohio?

yeah I dont get it, I think they are ordering out of new store stock, unless different regions use different warehouses, unknown to the reps. This is silliness.

Asurion is replacing the TP1 with a TP2. Got mine ordered today and will be here on Tuesday. I could type out how but there is a Asurion forum on here.. Take the time and start at page 30 and read. Pay attention to the success stories and a TP2 will be coming your way.. My success story is on there as well.. Good luck..

No luck. I am getting another TP. I have a bad USB port, and the guy said that he could only replace it with the same product. Hopefully they run out before they fill my order.

My refurb from sprint 2 days old USB port went bad AND cracked inside. Asurion gave me the TP2 though idc if I had to pay 100$ im gettin a TP2 lol

Ok this is really interesting.. Does anyone know if we can do anything thru the internet instead of calling them.. Like alot of people use to do the Advance exange but looks like Sprint does not do them tru their website.. I think if there is a website that we can check often we can know what phone we are going to receive if another touch pro or a Touch Pro 2 and they will not leave any note or something on our accounts saying we trying to get another phone

I tried advanced exchange and those f**kers sent me a refurbed tp1. Of course, I refused the package.
