Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Today my TP dropped out of my pocket and down a flight of stairs. The back broke off, the touch on the screen no longer worked, and the bottom row of the keyboard was dead. I've had it for about a year and it was already a little ruff on the outside but still worked fine, up until the tumble that is. Fortunately I have full insurance, a no brainer with the old SERO deal.
I took it into our local corporate store, Cheektowaga, N.Y., and the guy asked me to come back in about an hour so they had time to look it over. When I went back, they handed me a brand new boxed TP, not a refurb. They offered to transfer my data from the dead one to the new one. I told them I only needed the SD card since I sync daily. While the guy was writing down the ser#s and such, I told him I had heard the TP's were being phased out. He told me that they have a lot of parts and brand new models still in many stores so they are trying to run those out first before they offer other models. He also told me that he thought they would be obsoleted by Feb 2010. I really can't say I'm upset at getting another TP, especially a new one. My old one did every thing I asked of it except fly ![]() ![]() Last edited by kcornman; 10-23-2009 at 05:34 AM. |

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
My story's long and confusing... so the short version. Been sent to a non-existent repair center, store 4 1/2 hours away.... told to flash the rom update, back to local corp store... with them finally agreeing to replace w/tp2, one catch... you guessed it, OOS!!! since the reflash of rom my radio started losing signal repeatedly and data connection would crap out. finally got tired of it all... called retention who hooked me up with tech support mgr... he then told me all he could do was replace w/ tp 1... but would be happy to send an email explaining my situation to a store manager... I had him send to dif store 1 hour away. When I talked to her she was the first very friendly Sprint rep who was interested in helping. and wonder of wonders offered the tp2 as a replacement. by the end of the phone call she gave me a warehouse ticket # saying it was for a tp2, here in 3-5 biz days... wahoo!! Patience and civility prevail again!!
By the way, thanks to OP.. and all who had positive input... helped a bunch! |

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
Has anyone been able to get their TP replaced with a TP2 around the South Elgin,IL area? I tried at the st.charles and south elgin stores and they said the TP2 wasn't a option.

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I have been trying to use the online advanced exchange to exchange my Touch Pro. every time I try it I get one of two messages. The first one is:

I am on my second Touch Pro right now and although it would be nice to get a Touch Pro 2 I would be happy with a working Touch Pro. The one I have now worked good for a few months but has been going downhill ever since. The problems I am having now are call/data issues, charging problems, chipped chrome (not very important but was chipped out of the box and has got worse since. I would like to use the advanced exchange because I am a hour away from the nearest Sprint store. |

When it was working every time I log in and check for it, it always just gave me 4 locations to the nearest stores around me to take it into. |

Re: Sprint replacing Touch Pro with Touch Pro 2!
I'm so frustrated by my local store. They're sticking to the WEL list, requiring that all priority 4 phones be unavailable before moving to priority 5. I have legitimate problems (I've burned through 4 batteries in the past 3 days, front buttons are broken, radio signal is pathetic, overheats). They keep trying to tell me the Snap and Treo Pro are comparable. I strongly disagree. So, it's just a waiting game now for a returned or refurbed TP2.
