Re: Does anyone else have a crack in the chrome?
I called *2 and talked to a rep who promptly transferred me to insurance. Awesome.
Hung up, called back again and got a rep who transferred me to tech support and said that i'd have to "submit an e-ticket." Rep in tech support said she knew about the chrome problem and that they were sending out a new phone to me which should arrive within 2-3 business days. She did warn me that there was a $200 charge if the phone i sent back was "damaged beyond repair." I told her my phone was working fine, there was just chrome coming off. It doesn't technically fall into the ESN range but hopefully it'll go through ok as i'm having the exact same issue with the chrome. I also have that "greasy screen" issue that's been talked about here. |

that being said, here are some tips that may help you get the same offer... 1. dont be a tool when asking for a replacement (a little sugar goes a long way when asking for a freebie) 2. being a longtime customer helps 3. explain that you feel this is a manufacturing defect and you shouldnt be punished because of a faulty manufacturing process 4. if given the file a claim with assurian speech, let eCare know that cosmetic damage isnt covered by EPP 5. if told to contact HTC... let eCare know that HTC wants you to surrender your phone for a "repair" and you dont have another phone to activate while waiting 6. persistence pays... dont take no for an answer (remember rule #1 when being persitant) 7. if you unlocked your phone and flashed a custom rom go back to the stock rom and relock the phone (just in case) i wont guarantee this will work in every instance, but it worked this way for me Last edited by captblaze; 03-19-2009 at 02:50 AM. |

Re: Does anyone else have a crack in the chrome?
Hey guys my chrome is starting to crumble off in a a couple of spots also. I called tech support and told her about the known issues notes and she found it right away. She did not ask me what the esn was. My phone is outside that range. She was initially going to give me a refurbed phone and I told her that I don't want to end up getting a phone with the same issues and wanted a new one. She told me that she would talk to her supervisor about it and call me back. She called me 2 minutes later and told me that a new phone was on its way. Easy process. Just be nice and calm and if you get someone uncooperative, just hang up and call back. Good luck. I will post when I get the new one if it looks any different.

But man, how many of you would prefer the Diamond's chrome on the Pro? Or better yet: the GSM black stainless steel? |
