Just to let other posters know, recenty I had a part of the chrome fall out too (like another poster said above the volume button). I went to the store, and while it took some gentle persistence (the manager kept attempting to tell me that I dropped it and this did not happen at any fall, I literally watched it chip away) I have a BNIB tp coming to the store on monday or tuesday. He tried to say that next time I would be charged, and while I'm sure their won't be a next time as this should be an updated model, I certainly don't plan on paying for anything I have insurance on and didn't break myself.

Doh. Got my replacement. It's a refurb. Oh well. Let's hope this one doesn't start doing the same thing.

yea im being sarcastis that what i want to do anyways to it lol i just did the top when i have some time ima do the sides all it takes is some sand paper an buffing tool i guess ima do it an post pics when i got time....

It is part of the manufacturing. It is a "molding" crease from the casing mold. I have one in the corner of mine too. But as long as it doesn't effect the way my phone functions and most people don't even see it no big deal. There are more important things to be concerned with in this world.

well i received my phone and just like djfujiyama i got a refurbished phone (build date 1/19/09). i called sprint tech support again and told them that i was suppose to receive a new phone and the guy i talked to was kind enough to correct the problem. so now they are sending me a new phone and im going to be sending back the refurbished phone. i noticed on the refurbished phone the liquid detector sticker was activated...hopefully on the 28th i'll have a new phone

This is 100% correct for the first post. the simplest mode is a 2 part mold(cavity and core) with the possibility to add sliders to get more complex moldings. So what your seeing is the part line of the mold or even flash. so for a simple comparison its like saying my pop bottle is cracked because theres two lines going down the length of the bottle (to anyone in plastics i know they use blow molding and not injection molding). To those that have chrome chipping off i feel for you and that is a problem but this close of inspection will only cause worries. Now if you see a line that isn't strait then theres something to worry about.
