I braved *2 to get mine fixed. I talked to a regulas CSR, explained my problem, and then asked them to look up TP known issues. Miraculously they found a service/recall bulletin that covered a certain ESN range. Mine was in it, so I got a new phone sent to me.

got my replacement through Sprint Advance Replacement, ##778# and it is a new phone, MFG Jan 29th 2009.

Oh gawd now to have to move and reinstall all the appz and crap... ugh!

my old pro got a crack in it as well, no dropping or anything else as well..

lol they didnt even even mention an ESN range to me
wish i could find a the ESN range list any ideas?

Known Issue: HTC Touch Pro

Chrome Sides damage caused when device is dropped from approximately ear-level.
When the device is dropped from approximately 5 feet under certain conditions, the device can suffer damage to the chrome
sides. Damage seen can be a crack or significant chips in the corners.
Impacted ESN Range : A1000007800572 through A1000007805C7A
Instructions:
• If the user has significant damage to the chrome side as a result of a drop, replace the HTC Touch Pro free of charge.

CE is working to improve this user experience in a future hardware upgrade/enhancement. The new
hardware will be in inventory November 2008.

odd choice of words in that.."dropped"
I thought they don't cover accidental stuff usually? And anyways, I've seen the chrome flake and chip off of a TP thats never touched the ground.

WOW! Thanks guys . I just called and am getting my new phone tomorrow! All this time I thought there was nothing to be done about the crack in my chrome!

I did a search, but I have some other questions, and looking for suggestions.

How do I handle going into a store and addressing the chrome flaking issue? I mean it is not bad, and does not affect functionality. I seem to recall reading this is a known issue, and they just replace them in the stores.

Also.. is the D-pad supposed to scroll but just rolling your thump around it? it does not do anything for me unless I actually push the edges for up/down and left right. I have never seen that work like I am thinking it is supposed to.

I already have a TP2 on the way and will be here tomorrow for my other line, but with a couple of issues with my TP, and it being almost a year old, if something not right, I would like for it to be right.
