I agree 100%. Why would anybody want to own a PPC without a data package?? That makes no sense to me at all.

Of course you will have to extend your contract unless you want to pay list price for the phone.

I don't know... To maybe run Windows Mobile software? You know it is what Windows Mobile was used for before it was installed on cell phones.

No, I don't think so.. If this news article is any guide, the Verizon Touch Pro will be available online November 24th and Telesales on December 1st.. So, I think store launch would be after December 1st...

It hasn't been released yet, so no they wouldn't have one.

I went and played with the AT&T Fuze and the Sprint Touch Pro today. Both have 288 megs of RAM. Looked like about 203 megs were available in the about control panel. But I'm not sure how they partition out the memory. I don't know if it was this particular Fuze, but it was VERY slow. Slower than my XV6700 (custom ROM). Also the camera was black when launched. But I did see pictures that someone had taken. They looked great! I really like the looks of the Fuze. I noticed the keyboard did not light up the shift key like the Verizons XV6850. The keys were also pretty small. Not too small for me.

The Touch Pro from Sprint was fast. Much faster than the Fuze. It's keyboard did also not light up the shift key like the Verizon XV6850. I also can't believe how cheap Sprint is!!! The coverage must suck. I'm going to see if I can find anyone who has used them to find out. I could get a lot more than with Verizon for a lot less. The cost of the phones would probably be even with my discounts.

I can't wait to try out the XV6850 when it is released. I read that the Verizon rom made the Sprint's Touch Pro even faster!

the vzw rom on the sprint tp is a bit faster, but my main complaint is page pool. So, if anything I should honestly extract the nbh file from exe and increase the page pool. The vzw rom is solid - save from youtube application and my other cab files, but otherwise pretty nice

That's exactly right. People act like lack of a data plan makes the phone useless. You can always tell the veterans from the green users. You know, many of us had PDAs, (and then PDA/phones) LONG before there ever WAS a data plan.
This is like saying "Why get a computer without internet access?" When the correct question would be "Why get a MODEM without internet access?"

PPC without a data plan?
It's because some of us actually use the other 90% of the PPC's capabilities.

Actually I am one of those long time users, but the minute data plans became available I couldn't wait to sign up & take advantage of all the extra functionality that gives you. I can't imagine NOWDAYS having a PDA with no data plan, but that's just my opinion.

I doubt vz will hurt themselves one bit by requiring a minimum data plan in this day & age as most PPC users will want that functionality anyway. I know hundreds of PPC users & I can't think of a one that doesn't have at least a minumum data plan.
