I agree... nowadays, with all the capabilities and software of the phones, you are missing out on ALOT of features if you don't get a data plan.

Its so interesting how Verizon's greed never subsides...

EXACTLY... just not how you mean it.

It's 2008. If I walked into a friend's house, needed to use a computer, sat down and found out he had this nice, fancy computer.... with no internet... I'd think something was seriously wrong with that person.. or he just didn't pay his FIOS bill.

Sure, there's plenty of other functionality with the devices.... but again.... why would you NOT want data with all of that?

Do you guys still buy cars with no AC? You can still roll down the window, what's the point of AC?

If you want a phone that just makes calls and sends texts, get a basic phone... If you want a computer that just plays games and creates word documents, get a basic computer.. I would never spend $579.99 for a TP if I couldn't use the Internet capability... Just my opinion... But to each his own... Can't knock you if you do buy a TP and not use the internet...

I'm one of the aparent few that has gotten by just fine without a data plan. 23 hours of the day I have access to wifi. I have it at home, they've got it everywhere on campus, and we even have it at work. There's hardly any place around here that doesn't have wifi access anymore. The only time I can't check my email or browse the net it when I'm driving, and that wouldn't work too well anyways. That's why I can't justify the extra $30 a month. I've gotten by just fine for the past year and a half without it.

Oh, if I had near constant access to Wi-Fi, then the data plan is a waste of money... I have limited to no Wi-Fi access so its not an option... But yeah, if you have 23 hour access to Wi-Fi, it makes total sense...

I never did consider that, but living on a college campus pretty much eliminates most of the need for a data plan.

Then again, I would still need to tether when I make trips back home...

Yea, that makes perfect sense. It never occured to me, because back when I spent time in college wifi didn't exist yet...........
