oh well.

I just hope everyone finds their perfect Touch Pro, (or whatever.)

That's all I am looking for. I wish I could combine all the TPs I have had, into one great phone. I am returning this one in about 45 minutes, (they are holding me one,) because 9 times out of 10, the A key on the SIP is unresponsive. The last phone I had was perfect in this regard -- but it overheated

HTC/Sprint markets this as a "professional touch screen device." The touch screen of the Diamond/Pro is supposed to be revolutionary--at least for US carriers--because of it's resolution and whatnot. Why would they "downgrade" the responsiveness of it? The first thing people probably think is, man this phone has a F-ING awesome screen! -- oh shoot, I can't even scroll in a program without using my fingernail. What's up with that? (I can also use a stylus, but that's pretty lame too.) Or they might notice that unless they push 10 times harder, the start menu or X button won't even register.

The fact that it's failed on the phone portion, (in many aspects,) as well as the awesome touch screen portion, makes me question how people can lap this stuff up, and think it's amazing.

Is this really that much better than the Mogul? Coming from a Touch, the only real difference is the VGA display and the keyboard. It has more horsepower, but honestly, I haven't seen much benefit to this. Perhaps if I played hardcore 3-D games, maybe I would. TF2D on my Touch was 10x smoother/reliable than the one on the Pro.

I want it to be perfect, for the price of this thing. Even if you argue that it's not $749, that's fine--whatever it is, there should not be all these defects. I feel like I bought a Visio Plasma versus the high-end Panny I have in my living room. If my Panasonic display had ANY defect, I'd be pissed--but it doesn't. It works "perfectly." Just like most cell phones out there. I know most WM have a few bugs, and I would be very forgiving on the software side, but things like build quality, (including the screen,) are just unbelievable.

I can understand how you guys are not very upset... if you are coming from the mogul, or another phone with bad build quality, or other problems, then this appears as a god-send. My Touch had no build quality issues, whatsoever. My M1? That was amazing--never had an issue, except for one area that the paint wore because of the hinge. I can accept small things like that, but it seems that people are not holding HTC to the fire here to get their money's worth on their recent phones.

More power to you guys who love the phone, regardless of problems, but I have a hard time understanding your point of view. I actually wish I saw things the same way, but with such an expensive phone, (really, it is,) I just have higher standards. I expect problems like this from the RUMOR, or the other "smartphone" texting sliders that HTC makes... Not their flagship business model phone.

Feel free to disagree, as that's the point of the internet.
Why are you so determined to convince everyone they have a POS just because you have had some bad luck on your first what is it know 4 attempts to get a TP that is perfect in your eyes. Maybe you just don't now how to use a PPC and by the way I had a Touch Vogue from Sprint and it had the same corner screen issues that you like to complain so much about. I hated that device because of its build quality and screen issues.

Back to the Touch Pro in the words of a famous game show host Survey Says

Poll Here

Keeping my original phone... am ok with issues, nothing to provoke a return, etc. 78%

Returned original phone(s)... ok with replacement and issues. 16%

Returned phone, looking for other options. 14%

Re: Touch Pro Build Date

I swapped mine out today for a new one. It has a build date of 11/7. The rep told me that there will be a new production of these out in January that will fix a lot of the hardware issues. Take that for what it's worth.

In january? Did he mean a hardware fix for the old TP's as well or is he talking about new models? What does that mean...we're all screwed then?

Re: Touch Pro Build Date

Skeptic in me says that dude is talking out of his butt. HTC is not going to identify, find and fix anything hardware related on that scale in the span of basically two months--they're more likely to do ROM updates, but that's not on the hardware side.

I listed off all the hardware problems I was having & the Sprint tech said they had recalled 100k of these from inventory and that a revision to the hardware would start shipping in January. I don't know if he was saying they are reworking these units or what. I didn't really press him beyond that except to say that I planned on returning in January for a new one if that was the case. He gave me his card and said that he would have no problem swapping it if I continued to have issues.

Based on my experience I would tend to agree with your assessment, but at the same time he seemed pretty confident in what he was saying.

Re: Touch Pro Build Date

BTW having said all of that, I don't think it would be that unusual if there was a version 3 of the hardware in the works. Our current versions hare version 2. I've seen multiple versions on past devices as well.
