Well, I am wiser now and I am beginning to realize that those "stupid" people may have been a lot smarter than I thought. I no longer think of my home computer as a toy. It is an appliance. I want it to boot, to work, to be stable, every time. I don't run benchmarks. I don't have time for computer games, or any kind of games. Tommorrow, if I was going to buy a brand new computer (I haven't yet but who knows) it COULD be a Mac, because they work. And when they don't Apple usually makes good on it, a lot of times outside the warranty period. Imagine that. I am tired of products that don't work, and I shouldn't have to settle, ever. If only you knew me in high school and through college, would you understand how much it means for me to say this. It seems there is an entire market (the smartphone market, specifically WinMo) built on users totally willing, nay, EXPECTING, to have to tweak their device out of the box. Not just to set it up the way they want, but to make it work right! What kind of message does that send to companies like HTC? I'll let you answer that one. One of my buddies bought one of the new unibody macbook pros when they came out, and he had a similar string of bad luck. Except his units were coming with huge scratches in the finish out of the box. He only went through like 3 of them though.

I just don't understand. HTC has been making these things for many, many, years, and they put out something like this? Unbelievable. |

Re: Petition?: We need to get HTC to fix this heat/charging issue!!
I just called my favorite Sprint store, and they have no TPs in stock to even replace mine if they could. My 11/7/08 build-date is the newest they have heard of.
I wrote ecare and told them if Sprint/HTC doesn't do something about this, I have no problem jumping ship and finding a phone that actually works. The ball is in their court. Unfortunately, since 99% of the users who own the Touch Pro either 1) Don't use it hard enough to notice these problems, or 2) are blinded by loyalty to HTC and won't report the issue... |

I am seriously considering the iPhone, as this Touch Pro with it's heating up and failure to take a charge is making me wonder if I made a wise choice. That and Sprint and their [lack of] profits and allowing people to keep the SERO plan when they never should have had it in the first place. I'm headed off the the Apple store right now to see how this thing compares.

It's not like the IPhone doesn't have it's own issues.

Re: Petition?: We need to get HTC to fix this heat/charging issue!!
FYI - I got 2 touch pros yesterady (me and my wife) and I was on a call today. I don't know the specifics of all of my settings yet, but the battery got really hot. I went to Sprint's website and started 'online chat' with one of their representatives. Here is the response I got. Don't laugh... I can't believe she said this:
Kevin, once again I would like to apologize for the wait and the inconvenience. When using the phone and the battery getting hot from the use of the phone, this normal. I have been advised that a Cold Pack or Ice pack (As long as it is sealed in plastic) can be placed on the back of the phone. You next question may be, Will this damage the phone? No this will not damage the phone as long as the Cold Pack or Ice Pack is wrapped in plastic. I do understand that some situations may arise where you may not have a Cold Pack or an Ice Pack with you at all time, but that is understandable. |
