I'm going to have to return / exchange my Touch Pro. It's been randomly turning on and completely draining it's battery very quickly. I had a fully charged phone last night, and woke up to a completely dead phone. It was completely off. I'm really hating this phone now. I've never had a problem this bad with a Pocket PC before. Even my old 6700 didn't do this random battery drain thing.

Hey, I think I broke the world record for the fastest batt drain on a pro. 1 hour 10 minutes. On a full charge too! I do IT work and some of my clients require virtual assistant with their PC's and the other day I had to spend 1 10 minutes allowed by the batter repairing a software bug on another remote PC. I did use Z2Remote2PC. Well... it lasted 1 hour 10 minutes. DAmn...... I need to carry 8 batteries at this rate if I am busy!

If it was the Ferrari of PDA phones, wouldn't the touch screen respond around the edges?

Open your notes program, and try drawing a line from the middle of the screen to the left, with your thumb. Watch it STOP a half-inch from the side. Sure ain't no Ferrari.

Using the stylus, mine stops less than 1/16th of an inch from the left.

Try using your thumb. On my original Touch, using normal pressure it goes about 1/16th of an inch to the side, and if I push just a tiny bit harder, it goes all the way to the edge.

Well, considering the size of my thumb, it's difficult to focus a small area of flesh. But, angled correctly, and with the right amount of pressure, I achieved the same results as with the stylus.

The thing is, you shouldn't have to "angle" anything. You should be able to easily swipe from the center to the edge, and it should go all the way, no fuss. From your comments, it sounds like you "babied" it in order to get it to work properly. You should be able to use your thumb, regardless of how big, and you should be able to draw to the edge, like any other flush touchscreen, (besides the Pro/Diamond series.) I am holding my Touch in my hand and, doing nothing special at all, using very light pressure, my big thumb makes a line to the edge, with only a 1mm gap. With a tiny bit more pressure, it makes a solid line to the border.

Anyways, all I was saying is this is no where near comparable to a Ferrari, in any sort of rationalization/comparison/model/analogy. This is more like a Honda Civic with a bigger motor, with some LCD screens in the back seats, and some shiny chrome slapped on the side and muffler tip. (If you want to use a car analogy, that is.)

Best phone I ever had in my life and the worst battery I ever in my life. Only get about 2.5 hours on it if that.

With this test mine stops at 3/16", nowhere near 1/2". That's with very very minimal pressure, deliberately trying NOT to make it register at the edges. With decent pressure (as I have learned how to operate my Touch Pro and do not insist on operating it as I would a different device), I consistently reach 1/16".

The application of course does not allow drawing in the last 1/16".

Same test on my 6700, the line actually does stop a lot closer to 1/2" away because of the raised border of the screen. I think you are babying it if you get it closer because the thumb simply cannot approach that closely to the edge of the screen of a recessed-screen device.
