Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro -- Now working on Verizon! And with GPS!
Well guys, I've fixed it! It was a problem in the startup.txt file like some of you suspected. The only thing is that I was just following instructions and using the startup file that came with the AIO, so I wasn't sure why and where to get a different startup file. I downloaded the latest XANDROID package, took the startup.txt file from there and placed it into my andboot folder, and voila now it starts up, no freezes (so far).
So now that Android actually runs, I'm trying to get all of my contacts, sms, etc restored to see if it's reliable enough to use. But I've run into some hurdles and I have a couple of questions. 1.) Is there a battery monitor that shows a percentage? 2.) Can you transfer files from PC to Touch Pro when in Android? 3.) Are you unable to view the system files (program files on the device, etc) when in Android?

Perhaps as a kind gesture for all the help people have tried to provide, you could compare the two startup.txt files and list the differences in case it would help somebody else?

That's a great idea. I'm comparing them now, and then only thing that is different is the "acpuclock.force_turbo=1" is not present in the startup.txt that worked for me. Looks like you were right! Thanks for your help.

Alright. So turbo makes some devices unbootable -- good to know. I'll update.

You can transfer files from the PC, but it's somewhat convoluted, as it requires using ADB. Probably the easiest way is to install an app called Droid Explorer. Then connect the phone via USB, in WinMo, in activesync mode. Start Android -- the device will disconnect and reconnect, and then auto-install drivers for Android. At this point, you should be able to open droid explorer and have it detect your device. Many of the functions in there fail completely or only half-work, but it should allow you to at least get a shell, browse and transfer files, and view logcat output. System files are viewable from the terminal (though you might need to su to access them), but not via typical userspace applications. I think root explorer can, but it's a paid app. Of course, you can access the system files through adb and droid explorer, so maybe you won't need that on-device. |

Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro -- Now working on Verizon! And with GPS!
I think it was called BatteryIndicator.apk.
As to transferring files, the easiest way is to stick them on the SD card before starting Android. Then you can access them while in android by looking in the /sdcard mount point. For realtime transfers, what makk said or setup adb (also what makk said) Last edited by sfhub; 06-21-2010 at 02:26 AM. |

Heres what i did to get mine to work. Goto Settings>Wireless Controls>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names> From there select the default APN. Mine didn't have any thing to edit so i just made a new one. Name: Cricket APN: Cricket Mobile Web Proxy: wap.mycricket.com Port: 8080 Username:10DigitNumber@mycricket.com Password: cricket MCC: 310 MNC: 00 Then Menu>Save Also on mine the newly created APN never showed on the list of APNs but my data still worked. |

Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro -- Now working on Verizon! And with GPS!
When you create an APN with MNC of 00, it is immediately disabled, as the reported MNC of the device is 995. (This is a hack for cdma devices, as they have no actual MNC.) At least, that's how I understand it to work. I'd be curious to hear if this works for other cricket users, because, if so, something strange is going on.
If other Cricket users try this, and it doesn't work, it'd be worth trying it again, but with an MNC of 995. I'll be pleasantly surprised if it works. |
