Yep, you're right... I've been posting here for quite some time now. It's people with your attitude that drive people away from communities like this. Get off your high horse, this is already a dieing Touch Pro community. People are going to ask questions, it's the nature of a "support" community such as this. If you don't feel like answering questions and it gets you so upset, why do you even participate?

Anyway, gave this another shot last night and used it while I was out with friends and the battery life just doesn't seem to be there with somewhat moderate usage. It's still fun to play with from time to time though.

The rootfs should just be 'rootfs.img', the zImage should be just that - zImage w/o any file extension. Modules will have a bunch of letters & numbers after it, those are fine - leave 'em.

If you didn't update and you are just using the AIO format your SD card with the HP tool. Then try again with the AIO from this post, or you can also update it if you wish.

Yea, and people can also search on their own... Took me 2 seconds. You could have just not posted at all, but you chose to.

i just downloaded the file and unzipped it to my card. the instructions on the first page said to do just that. the rootfs file was just that, no .img file extention..... changed it around but it's still not working

here's what it says on the "command prompt thing" (this is the last few lines)

"welcome to vogue linux
running an fsck on the SD card
dos fsck 3.0.1, 23 nov 2008. FAT32 LFN
/dev/block/mmcbIk0pl: 700 files, 18762/249040 clusters
failed
failed to find the rootfs on SD card. you need to unzip a rootfs
zip file to the root of the SD card"

i take it formatting my SD card will make me lose all my data, correct?

thanks again

Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800)

rootfs should be named "rootfs.img". only the zimage is left without an extention.

also make sure everything is in the same folder (root or andboot).

Yea, it sounds like the rootfs is the problem. Formatting will cause you to lose all data on the SD card, yes. Based on your issue tho, it's either a naming problem or a file location issue I believe.

Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800)

New to android on the TP. I had looked at it awhile back but the features and stability just weren't worth me giving it a try. Now, its pretty close to usable as a daily phone I think. Battery life is definitely the biggest issue for me (and probably most). Given the lack of a decent hardware keyboard on most android phones (I love my Bell TP keyboard) I haven't yet found an android based phone I'd buy. I'd love to help out if you need someone to test for you. If you need such people feel free to IM me. Great work so far makkonen, I hope you don't lose interest.

Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800)

I have the 5/11 build and it was working fine. Lately I have been getting application errors for marketplace. Anyone else have this issue? Marketplace worked great until a few days ago.

I had an insufficient storage available error with the market, I just deleted my data.img and tried again... works now. What error are you getting?

Re: Linux/Android on CDMA Touch Pro (RAPH800)

ya that stupid arrrghhh. always helping people in his grumpy ways.

seriously guys, if you want to start flaming or ecalling someone out. there is an off-topic thread (that i never really go in) that you can post all you want about anything that has nothing to do with anything else on this site.

lets leave this thread for development and testing.

and i share his frustration myself. everything that is asked is talked about over and over in this thread. if it is something new that hasn't been discussed yet you won't get a response such as "search the thread for it". no one likes 20 pages of the same questions with another 20 pages of the same answers.

i think alot of you guys forget that this is a test project. nothing that will be completed any time soon and whats available now is not for those with little to no knowledge of what we're doing. if you want knowledge, read. there are threads/sites deticated to helping you learn. the wiki's are a great place to start. we all started off with nothing at one point and had to learn the hard way.

while we are here to help, we are not here to repeat the same answer over and over, page after page. so excuse us if we seem rude at times. so lets reframe from the name calling and what not.

/rant
