Re: power button issues on 6.5?
UPDATE!!!!!
Got my shiny new phone yesterday... I was so happy I didn't bother finding out if it was a refurb. I'm assuming it is... But they did say, on Saturday, they were ordering me a brand new phhone. EVERYTHING WORKS.... I installed EVERY cab I have and it ALL works... Power button works. I can't say for sure that I know what the problem was but I did update the PRL on my old phone as well as on this one. The one thing that stands out in my mind is that I got my phone last year in early August. Like a week after release. My phone did not power on when I removed the stilus like my TP did. I was a little disapointed with that. I have since read some posts where people's Sprint TP2's will turn on by pulling the stilus. Well... Guess what? This one does it. Which leads me to my point... There MUST be at least two versions of this phone out there which makes be believe that this would be the reason for only some of us having the power button problem. I fought with that issue and backed up my phone religiously. I restored known working backups and the problem persisted.... Also of note... When I tried restoring my backups from my old phone to this one... I received a message telling me that the ROM in this new phone was newer therefore I chose not to restore from backup and instead went ahead and installed EVERY cab one by one. I am happy with my decision and found my experience to be anything but a waste of time. p. |

Re: power button issues on 6.5?
I skimmed and read a lot of the posts, and I'm kinda looking at my own phone right now, wondering if maybe i know a workaround. I read someone mention that it happens when the phone falls asleep. Anyways... If your situation is like mine than I may know a workaround for you at least until htc or someone comes up with a proper fix.
Just to compare what i thought was happening to something else. How many of you have ever experienced problems with windows itself, where when it sleeps or hibernates, at times the machine didn't want to wake up. So we had to reboot. It didn't happen when the display would shut off only when it went to sleep or hibernate. That used to bug me so much, I just disabled it. I did the same thing with my touch pro2. It's fairly new to me, in fact I haven't even unlocked it and flashed a new rom yet. So, since my phone was essentially untainted and having the problem so many of you are experiencing, and now that i'm hearing that 6.1 didn't have the problem (rules out hardware issues), i'm gonna say it's something wrong when the device sleeps. Some apps, I noticed made it worse (ie S2U2 with the sleep options), and i'm sure some others that push the device into sleep mode or somehow create a conflict (apparently waking from sleep mode). So anyways, I endured the same problem almost right out of the box for a couple weeks irritated by its intermittent appearance (no rhyme or reason). So I just disabled the device from sleeping. I'm not exactly sure how much of a difference it's making on the battery life, but i'm loving this phone so much, that I don't let it sleep much anyway, plus the display will still shut off (saving power there when your not using it), and I'm still using S2U2 (just had to play with the settings to ensure it put the TP2 to sleep. For system settings, just went to Start\Settings\System\Power\Backlight and on both battery power and external power unchecked "Turn off device if not used for:" for both Battery Power and External Power. In S2U2, I went to S2U2 Settings and under Power unchecked "Power Off in" for both Battery and External Power. Anyways, it's just a temp workaround not a fix to the sleep problem. It just helps keep my sanity in check. I'm pretty happy with it now and the problem seems to have completely 100% disappeared. Hope this helps someone out there. Re: power button issues on 6.5?
This is a problem that manifested itself after upgrading the phone to the stock Sprint Windows Mobile 6.5 ROM...
I never had issues with WM 6.1 except when I had installed an old version or S2U. You may want to try checking the Slide 2 Unlock site, and check if you have the most upto date version. Since getting my new phone from Sprint I've had ZERO problems with my power button. Last edited by AZTECHKA; 04-13-2010 at 07:20 PM. |

Re: power button issues on 6.5?
glad you like your new phone azteca.
just a question, when your tp2 didn't wake on pulling stylus, did you have it set to do so? you can change that in the settings. How many of y'all having this problem have S2U? is it maybe the culprit, not playing nice with the new OS? (wouldn't suprise me though if it is a OS problem instead)

Re: power button issues on 6.5?
I thought it was a game I was playing and then leaving on or something. I wouldn't have a clue what it would be if we are all experiencing it. Happens sometimes twice a day for me. Not today though

Re: power button issues on 6.5?
Mine started having problems a few days after the update to 6.5 after I installed all kinds of cabs. Then I tried uninstalling and did all the proper things. Then I restored an old back up and the problem persisted. Finally it was having the issue EVERY time the phone went into sleep mode.
Even after 3 HARD resets in a row. I took it in to Sprint with a fresh reset and no cabs installed. The problem was obvious. Now... new phone 79 cabs installed... NO PROBLEMS>>> yet... lol. p. |
