Well Sprint owns the majority of clearwire. And we all know Sprint has been tanking for a while now. They are probably anticipating another dismal quarter, so they are putting this info out there just to keep the investors from rioting. Shareholders are already abandoning ship, and this is just something to attempt to calm their nerves.

Nationwide? Are they making a significant infrastructure investment? Their 3g coverage map is as dismal as ATT's.

As for the original topic. I won't switch over to TMobile for the HD2. I've had a HTC G1 in my hand for the last week, testing the network, and I never get better than edge. No thanks. I won't pay more for less, no phone is worth that.

Clearwire put this out well before the end of this quarter.

Let me ask you this...... is this your own opinion, or do you actually know whether or not the equipment used to support a WiMax infrastructure can or cannot be re-programmed / re-configured to support a LTE infrastructure?

Well Clearwire themselves said nobody else can switch like that, only them. So I guess it's possible they found some super secret way to get 2 seperate technologies out of the same hardware- and nobody else knows about it. Not likely, but possible...

If they put it out before the end of this quarter, it doesn't really change anything since this quarter was one of the worst in Sprint's history.

Re: Who plans to go HD2?

i dont believe sprint owns the majority. comcast was a big investor into clearwire as well and has launched 4g cards already in certain markets and will have a nationwide launch soon.

on a different note i cant believe so many people want hd2 with keyboard. hd2 is almost too big for me, addind a keyboard will make it too big and bulky. look how much thicker the tp2 is over imagio or the pure. tp2 size is the biggest a phone should be with a keyboard.

Sprint owns 51% of Clearwire (just enough to make them the majority owner and decision maker).

Re: Who plans to go HD2?

Did anyone see on Engadget that the HD2 in Russia will be the only current handset to upgrade to Win 7 Mobile? They say that the States will likely follow as well.

i dont know why you bring up sprints financial situation and the fact they lost customers. WE all Know sprint isnt loosing customers because of its network, so please dont reference that anymore. sprint is bleeding customers soley because of customer service but thats a different debate. sprints netwwork is better and more reliable then tmobile, hands down. i travel way to much to be wondering if where im going will i get a signal.

Yep. Too bad I don't have any of the threads bookmarked from the various forums where all the moron haters predicted that it would not get upgraded to Windows Mobile 7.
