Re: Is Sprint still giving out refur'ed MOGULs?
FROM FISH: "I pushed the issue, yet did not get angry, shout, yell, or insist on a better phone.
See I love this because you were REASONABLE! the line "I pushed and insisted that they repair my mogul, or send me a refurbished HTC phone with a simillar screen and stylus to the mogul."....says it all. The other day I gave someone some free acc's because they DIDN'T ask me for free stuff cuz they had to wait so long. And you didn't exclude repair as an option either and that's rare. EVERYONE just says "I got the insurance, I need my phone replaced" and repair is successful 90 or more % of the time. Here's another one people always say if they come in cuz their phones freezing and I find blood red liquid indicators or it's half smashed..."well it was (insert problem) before" it got wet/dropped, whatever..COME ONE...NO! Ok no more venting just thought you guys would find that funny too, I mean everybody says those things. But you my friend are an example of a rare breed of customer and those are the one's that make me feel like I'm doing my job and I like making people happy. It reminds me of the toothless guy with a mullet that put his phone in the microwave to dry it out after he got it wet and SCREAMED at me because I wouldn't replace it (true fkn story all the way down to the mullet, well...more like "skullet",) and said he was gonna "drop sprint" and "call corporate" and made a scene in front of everyone & that makes me just simply want to thank you for just being..... reasonable! Re: Is Sprint still giving out refur'ed MOGULs?
i am also from a sprint authorized service center, and i have been for 9 years. they have been getting harder and harder on us with exchanges. they have changed the policy as to where NO damage is covered anymore(broken lcds, housings, etc will net you $120), we have to go by a set list of exhange phones (customer service will tell you otherwise because they are liars), we have a LIMIT as to how many exchanges we can do in a month (making it harder to help customers properly)
it IS tough when customers come in and we cant fully help with the issue. it makes it even harder when we cant select an appropriate swap in the system (example.. giving a snap for a mogul or giving a bb curve for a touch pro) |

Re: Is Sprint still giving out refur'ed MOGULs?
I understand economy is down and Sprint may try to save some money by making it harder for people trying to scam the system...What I dont understand is what then is my $7 a month for TEP getting me? If I have insurance on my phone and I have a legitimate issue then why wouldnt I expect it to be taken care of? If what you are saying is true and that you can only give a certian number of exchanges a month, I think that is a bunch of crap! If Sprint cannot comply with the stipulation of "insurance" then why offer it. If they cannot give you a refurb or a comparable model, then they should bump you to a newer phone with a smile! That is what good customer service and a good company should do. Maybe Sprint needs to hold manufacturers more accountable for defective phones or only allow newer phones to have insurance that times out after 2 years or something. Trying to skimp your customers will not add to the longevity of your company and customers know when they are being given a raw deal. I am really sorry to hear that Sprint has chosen to go this route as I have been happy with the service so far. I have been thru a couple of Moguls and have never asked for anything more in return, but I should not have to be at the mercy of the number of people who came in before me during the month to determine if I get satisfactory customer service. Am I making sense?

Re: Is Sprint still giving out refur'ed MOGULs?
to clarify, we can still generally order you a new phone after our limit, but we get in trouble. i have seen MANY service centers around here get closed by sprint because they have gone over their limit way too many times and cost sprint too much money.

Personally...I really liked my Mogul...I know its silly, but I like that little email button on top. I can really understand how Sprint does not want people to "scam the system," but honestly, does ANYONE believe that a SNAP is a comparable phone to the Mogul? I might even accept that the Diamond, Diamond Pro are somewhat comparable.... (even without a slideout keyboard...)...I don't even think I would consider the Snap to be PDA.... I am pleased that Sprint was able to accommodate a similar phone, yet they really hosed my plan when I activated it....dropping the free text messaging, vision, incoming calls and phone as modem that were part of my customized plan from 4 years ago... If I had known they would do this, I would have kept my malfunctioning mogul! (BTW: I bought my mogul with no incentives, just straight cash on my Fry's Card. Frys does charge about $50.00 less than the MSRP) |

Re: Is Sprint still giving out refur'ed MOGULs?
The only thing comparable to a Mogul on the current market is a TP2. They are the same price on release; the fact that Moguls are outmoded does not take value away from their market price when they were purchased. The fact that so many people complain about refurbed Moguls not working is pretty ridiculous. If I'm paying for insurance, I should get a phone that works. That's what the insurance is for. I'm not trying to cheat the system.
I'm probably going to cancel my insurance if they won't even deal with the issues I'm worried about having. I just spent $375 more on a new phone and I've paid $210 in insurance since I got my last one. This is all profit to Sprint/Asurion, and if I can't trade in my BROKEN Mogul which is missing about half of its basic functions for one and be assured that the replacement will work, then the insurance is worthless. |

Re: Is Sprint still giving out refur'ed MOGULs?
I have a mogul that is 2 to 3 years old. I recently upgraded it to WM 6.1. -- from the sprint site. At first it wouldn't sync hardly at all, and more importantly, it wouldn't load my MS business contact manager (BCM) contacts. I have over 5000 business contacts on my phone all managed through that software.
I took it back to the store and asked to flash it back to 6.0. They can't do that. But they told me to uncheck the advanced networking option in the communication manager and it started syncing perfectly. It was then not connecting to the internet. I called the tech support and they had me take the battery out for 30 seconds. I started it back up and it works great. My phone is in very good shape. The store gave me a new battery and I think that my talk time will triple between charges. I played around and reconfigured my screen appearance, and loaded up some new apps (amaze GPS, stop watch, pandora) that I found out about on this site. Now, I feel like I have a brand new phone. My only complaint with my Mogul is that I wish I could turn the ear volume up a little more. And, I don't like the headset arrangement. With the 6.1 upgrade, I can now watch videos, etc. It's not as slick looking as the TP2, but it works well. I don't really use the slide out keyboard. I use cell phones to talk on. I have probably sent 12 text messages in the last 10 years. I occasionally send emails from my gmail account. But mostly, I use my laptop for emails while tethered to this phone. I love the way this phone tethers to my laptop. I love that I can carry my BCM contacts with me. BCM doesn't support WM 6.5. This thread has me pretty worried about what will happen if my mogul ever breaks. |
