Im not so sure about that, he has done great things for Sprint. I would hate to see where they would be without them. You have to remember...like this country Sprint is not ruled by 1 man alone.

If that is the case, then Sprint should let you buy the phone for $450 or whatever and not have that stupid fee.

Re: dan@sprint.com response I got

I don't think the $10 is the main problem. IMO, the change of plans + $10 + the rumored $29.99 for hotspot and wifi = a bad deal for me. If it works for you, great but i am going to hold off until I see what really happens when people get the EVO.

Hey I am not for the fee either but sprint wants to make sure no one gets around it..and this way no matter where or from who you get the phone they get money.

Well if they let you buy the phone at a higher price and avoid the fee, they would get their money that way too.

From what Sprint has been telling me, you have to agree to a 2 year contract when you add that $10 fee. So if you sell the phone, you are still stuck paying the fee (and the person who activates it is also stuck paying it).

Now we all know how accurate Sprint reps have been in the past, so that info could be wrong. But they have been consistent in telling me that over the past few days.

I do not think you are stuck with the fee..the contract does not pertain to "Addons"..chances are that addon is stuck to the EVO and will not let you add an EVO without it..or remove it while you have an EVO. That said.."maybe" you can time removing of the addon and re-adding the EVO and it will go without fee lol

They really have no way of telling if you bought it on full price or not..example..if someone gets an EVO for 199$ then sells it...sprint losses money. They want to make sure no one can avoid it

Re: dan@sprint.com response I got

For those of you who haven't email dan@sprint.com yet, please do so. They are running out of excuses for charging this fee.

The rep I spoke to told me they have received a lot of emails on this fee. She said she have forwarded on to the "appropriate group" for review. Whatever that suppose to me. Maybe they will drop it for non-4G people.

Thats not true the $10 has nothing to do with ANY contract....lol The only way you would have to sign a new 2 year is if you upgrade your phone, agree to a discount or various other things all of which have nothing to do with the ADD-ON fee.

That's how it's been in the past, sure. But we've never had a mandatory add on either. Only time will tell. But from what they were telling me, this is not an add on, but it's an actual plan. And you have to agree to keep this plan for 2 years.

It certainly wouldn't be the first time they were ever wrong about something, but there were so many of them all saying the same thing I just assumed it was probably correct.

This is the smart way to play it.
An educated consumer beats the $10/mos village ranters who know not what the exact details or practical implementation is yet.
