What comes in effect is how efficient your browser uses your CPU to do this. Future browsers (HTML5) are going to have the CPU and GPU working together to process pages which should further the speed in which page loads AFTER it receives all the data from the network.

you have a 2 1/2 year old gateway but you didn't state what your running on it? and you have to take in effect what quality your webcam/microphone is and what bit rate you are sending and receiving through skype.

So to say that your example was the perfect example is false.

But I'm not trying to step on your toes, start a fight, or anything. Just informing you and everyone else. just saying

The 360 the other hand has only had one online problem since I had it (since it came out) and that was game related (COD 4).

Now when talking about it only depends on network speed and not processor speed is not true. Its a combination. I have a 3 mouth old Macbook Pro with a 2.53 dual core processor and a 2 1/2 yr old Gateway without a dual core processor and believe me the processor plays a huge part in download speeds and page loads. A perfect example is both of them running skype on the same network doing a video call, the Mac running Windows 7 will run with no chop in speech and very little video lag if any at all. The Gateway on the other had may have a 3-7 sec video freeze, broken record effect when something being said gets stuck on repeat for a few secs before it clears up. And they both also have 4gb of ram installed and brand new hard drives that are only weeks apart.
Processing power is no longer an issue. On the nexus if i'm surfing 3g or i'm surfing wifi, there is a significant difference. So surfing on 4g will be significantly different then surfing on 3g. When watching youtubes to the speed of which pages load, you WILL NOTICE A DIFFERENCE.

Re: dan@sprint.com response I got

With all the perks I've gotten from Sprint for free and the better service experience I've had, cheaper plans, etc, I'm more than willing to pony up $10 for 4g. With everything I've got on my family plan, I'll still be paying less than I would any other carrier and having one smoking phone.

I so agree. I also am willing and have been with sprint since the mid 90's. Some of the phones haven't been the greatest but the plans have. If you don't like it don't get the phone. That is what I've always done and will continue to do. I wanted a world phone and keyboard but couldn't pass up all the other options that this phone has to make a difference.

Re: dan@sprint.com response I got

Although I don't mind paying the extra $10, I do wish that it was only applicable to those in 4G markets. It seems a little unfair to me to pay a premium for using the same amount of data that I do now.

However...honestly, I will probably be using the Evo to surf the web a lot more than I do with my TP. The CPU DOES affect the speed the page loads after it's downloaded, and shit...it's 4.3"...and Android seems to load stuff faster in the stock browser faster than Opera Mobile does too.

The $10 most likely is due to the 199$ price tag and not 4G, what htye saying about data is just an excuse..my guess is once you authenticate into the server it dont matter if you are on wimax or evdo..so there would be no way of preventing you from accessing the 4G. The biggest problem is if they see this slide they make actually make the 4G addon a permanent thing and in future make even another 4g+ which is 20$ addon...

Re: dan@sprint.com response I got

My thing is it's not just $10 for me. I have a 4 line family plan (all smartphones, and everyone looking forward to the Evo) so it will be $40 extra for me.

And I'm not even in a 4G area, so I won't see those faster speeds. I'll be using the exact same amount of data that I currently use on my Touch Pro 2. So why should my bill go up by a whopping $40 per month? Especially after the CEO said it was cheaper to provide a gig over 4G that a gig over 3G, and then said it would not cost any extra.

Of course I'm pissed about it. They get my hopes up, have me salivating over it for several months, and then BOOM- sorry we lied, but it will cost you $40 per month extra, even though we don't even have 4G in your area yet.

It blows my mind that there are actually people saying I shouldn't be upset by this. My dad used to always tell me, "A fool and his money will soon part ways." As willing as people are to bend over on this forum, I have to think I'm swimming in a pond of fools.

Way to set a precedent though. If Sprint is successful with this, you can bet they be bending you over every chance they get.

Another thing- they should kill that $10 fee. To make up for it they could also kill Sprint Navigation, Sprint TV, Nascar, NFL Mobile, and Sprint Radio. And if anyone wants to use those, they can pay $10 extra.

Re: dan@sprint.com response I got

If Sprint wants to justify this $10 charge, I say they can keep the ED plans and also have mandatory data add ons but also let you choose if you want unlimited text, Sprint Navi, Sprint tv, any mobile, nights and weekends at 7, and lower minute plans, yes lower.

As many have said, not everybody needs everything that they ED plans offer. I personally dont need unlimited text, Navi, tv nights and weekends at 7. I have worked to get the perfect plan for me and have it now with my 300min unlimited incoming plan with 1000 text, pick 5, no navi, limited tv and its always worked for me.

Once you give people the freedom the reduce their bill to add the mandatory $10 charge, they can swallow it better. I never had a sero plan and never had use for it because it didnt meet my needs even though it was cheaper than the plan I have now back then. I wasnt and still are not a big texter and if I need to I can use my email or Google voice, never need navi, tv (have slingbox so i watch real tv).

I can understand the arguments of those who say they like to pick the amount of text they would like and the little add ons they really dont need.

Sprint can still keep the ED plans for those who want all of that and limited mins but also allow us to pick our poison.

Just my thoughts on the matter.

so in many words yes 10 dollars is for 4g. My touch pro 2 consumes a crap load of data no 10 dollar fee'' evo comes out and 10 dollar fee why? 4g baby 4g.. guess 4g does cost more.
Its a load of crap. so are we allowed to surpass the soft cap with no worries because we pay more?....lol
