Re: dan@sprint.com response I got
maybe i'm a bit confused. Here in NYC, where 4G doesn't exist yet, why are we subsidizing other areas where 4G does exist? Shouldn't the $10 charge only occur where 4G exists. Sure, charge me later or add it on to my bill when 4G is available, I'll even sign up with a contract with that stipulation, but if 4G is not available in my area, why am I paying for it? Matter of fact, 4G isn't even listed for NY 4G site, so why are early adopters of a phone that doesn't have the ability to use the 4G speeds being charged:

Sort of like getting cable and them charging extra for premium channels that don't exist on your network. They exist in another city, so they're charging me with the promise of "trust us" it'll get to you soon enough. As with both, I'll wait until the service available in my area and THEN sign up and pay for the service. |

Re: dan@sprint.com response I got
and now just 10 bucks more I can get on a network that gets better phone faster then sprint they wanna talk nickles and dimes I will to 10 bucks more hey its only 10 bucks more I can leave sprint and go to a network that gets more then one good phone a year. Heck tmobile is owning the cell phone market with releases lately would be nice if sprint was like that and its funny how they can say with a straight face its not for 4g yet its the only 4g phone out thier and the other 4g devices dont require this premium charge.

Re: dan@sprint.com response I got
I'm still not convinced that for a service unavailable in my area, I'll upgrade. I was all for getting the EVO, my TP2 is literally on its last legs and I'm out of contract. Verizon may have better service, but the comparable service costs about double what I'm paying. I can happily wait until 4G is offered in the NYC market, which I'm wondering if they're not offering it in the heavy usage areas specifically because it's going to be pounded on. They keep offering it in what I consider small markets and not the coasts for example. Very strange their choice of rollout markets yet, coming out with a phone that can't take advantage of these upgrades.

If that's how you look @ it - as a 4G tax - then agreed that you should NOT have this phone in your hands until 4G GETS to your area. |
