You have to remember if you dont want to pay the $10 you dont have to get the phone. Im thinking we will all still be getting it I know I am.

I don't think AT&T is tellign any of it's current customers "if you want to upgrade your phone it will cost you $40 per month extra." Anyone going to AT&T and getting an iPhone already knows the deal going in. Sprint is telling me, "you are already on a smartphone plan that supposedly includes everything. But if you ever change phones, either you downgrade the phone or you pay an extra $40 per month."

They do in fct tell their customers if you want the iphone you have to pay the $$ add-on that is fact and you can call them and ask them. It doesnt matter with AT&T if your on any other smart phone when you switch to the iphone you pay the extra fee. And its not about the upgrade with Sprint. Im not upgrading and I still have to pay it when I get the Evo.

Semper Fidelis (Always Faithful) is the motto of the Corps. That Marines have lived up to this motto is proved by the fact that there has never been a mutiny, or even the thought of one, among U.S. Marines.

Re: dan@sprint.com response I got

But in all reality it is for 4G. All their new 3g phones that come out this year won't require the $10 charge. Only the 4G phone will require it. And what happens when they come out with a "less featured" 4G phone and don't charge the $10. There will be a lot of pissed off EVO owners. That's for sure.

And if their less featured 4G phone require the $10 then it's because the phone is 4G. Right? I'm confused.

Exactly. The $10 is not for 4G, (though hopefully it goes into developing the 4G infrastructure at at quicker rate), the $10 is a premium based on the theoretical high volume of data usage EVO users will consume. Makes sense to me and I do not mind paying it, its still the lowest cost plan in wireless.

I understand that if you want the iPhone, you have to pay the fee. But the iPhone is the same price as their smartphones. So if you are coming form a dumbphone, yes, the iPhone costs extra. If you are using a TP2, no, the iPhone doesn't cost extra.

Yes, definitely. If my $10/mo helps get 4G to my area faster, I'll be more than willing to pay it. lol
