I had to chime in on this discussion. My 6700 has been failing miserably on the battery life it can't keep a charge for long at all. It started happening in January of this year. I bought the phone in November 2006 from Radio Shack. Since then it has been getting progressively worse. What made me take it to a Sprint store was the USB port used for charging the phone is coming loose. So I took it to the sprint repair center and was told by the rep (not a tech mind you) that they do not have any 6700s in the warehouse and if i would need replacement they would give me a Treo. I said I didn't want a Treo. So she told me to call Sprint's customer service to see if they can find one through another warehouse. I called them and after a lengthy convo with that girl she told me to contact Asurion the people who handle the insurance which I now pay $7 a month for. They (Asurion) told me I had to pay the $50 deductible and they would send me a reconditioned 6700. I placed this call on Tuesday May 1 and received the replacement on May 4, 2007.

I came in here looking to see how I can sync my contacts because it seems everything else synched but not my contacts. I did ask all the Sprint reps I spoke to on the phone and the one I saw in the store and none of them knew a thing about the 6800. I didn't actually call it by name I was just trying to see if they knew whether the 6700 was to be replaced they all acted or not acting as if they have never heard of there being a replacement for the 6700. That is either strange or just typical you all let me know.

Being may 6th already i HIGHLY doubt well see the 6800 on the 14/15th of this month as slated

Id assume for now theyre gonna try and push 700wx's on 6700 swaps since theres no 6800 to replace it. Not exactly comparable, but getting a more expensive phone i guess. Id much rather get a 6800 than a 700wx for swap

heres the backup utility for you to get your contacts back from your old phone using your new phone put this prog on a storage card now move the card to the old phone and runit have it backup to the card now place the card in the new phone and hit restore and VIOLA

well, at least...

Well, at least they didn't tell you to buy a TREO. That "Trio" phone they're trying to talk you into may be a great phone, but I wouldn't take a "TREO" to replace a 6700... yeesh

Well I was unable to revive my phone, so I called VZW and walked through several hard resets which failed to fix the issue. Well they sent me an FRU (field replament unit) and I was up and running.

You may be able to leverage this to get the new XV6800 by using the rule of 3 failures. If you have the warranty, and your phone is defective 3 times with in 3-6 months, they will replace your phone. Usually that means a similar device, or they will give you a newer model for the 2yr contract price regardless of your contract status. Becareful sometimes the reps will renew your contract to get credit for a new sale or renewal.

Well the only thing wrong with this and before we all go burning up blowing up and screwing up our handsets is SPRINT DOSENT HAVE ANY MORE IN THE WAREHOUSE!!!!!!! so if you break it your going to get a Treo 700p or a Treo 700wx in replacement they also may give you a Motorola Q so dont chance it

Well I went to sprint yesterday and they still claimed there were no 6700's to be had, but they would give me a Treo. so i not so politly asked if it had WIFI (knowing it dident) they of course replied no! I at that time I placed my phone on the counter with my credit card and loudly exclaimed then id like to cancel my account!! well the CSR exclaimed "let me call another store and see if they can fix it" I said no dont bother just cancel my account he dissapered into the back about 2 minutes later he came out and said "your in luck we found one in the back so were giving it to you" funny huh! when i got home i told a friend of mine in another city what had happened he went to his local store today and replayed the same scenerio there. and low and behold they "found one" in the back too. seems all you need is the balls to stand up to them and they crumble pretty quickly

Yeah when I first got my phone, Sprint and I went rounds. They're pretty crappy at the stores.

I went in to sign up for new service in November. I was mostly just inquiring. Dude convinces me to sign up and get a cheap phone, then come back later in the week when I get paid to swap it out for the 6700.

Everything looked fine, went back, swapped, etc.

Well the 6700 I got wouldn't hold the memory card. The spring was broken. Took it back to the store and they tried giving me the "well, we can't exchange it for a new one because you have already had one product exchange" even though it was broken out of the box (I literally hadn't even removed the screen protector yet - I went to Walmart to get a memory card, it wouldn't stick, so I had to return it). They gave me two options. Either send it in to get a refurb or let them try to fix it themselves. I told them I would just return the phone and cancel my account, taking my business back to T-Mobile.

Suddenly, corporate policy went out the window once he realized I hadn't had the service more than 2 weeks and was threatening to leave.

Bastards...

Didn't think I'd be posting in this thread...
Dropped my 6700 and got a small crack in the upper corner of the screen.
Everything still seems to work (although I did have to align the screen) but it makes me nervous. I went to a Sprint store and asked if they had any and was told that they were discontinued. One of my options (besides taking a Treo) was getting it fixed. In the past, this never happened. Will they actually put a new screen in this device? Can they do it "in house" so that it can be done that day? Waiting a few weeks while it gets sent to HTC is not an option.

I'd love it if I could just get this one back to 100%.

Just dropped an completely busted the screen on mine yesterday. It turned many different colors, and the screen is utterly indistinguishable now. Fortunately I have Voice Command on there and running, so I can still manipulate the phone functions via that, but it still sucks not seeing what I am doing. I called Asurion and told them my little story, and today I have recieved a BRAND NEW in the box PPC-6700 with the dock, chargers, all the goodies with it! I figured I would be getting another refurb from them, but they delivered the goods this time!

By the way, the nice lady I spoke to at the insurance company told me that the Sprint warehouse has thousands of these available for warranty claims. She said that the reason I am getting a new one is because they pulled all (or most all) of the new units from the stores so that they could cover many months of warranties after the discontinuation. So if anybody tells you there aren't any, tell them BULL!

PLUS, the Sprint stores themselves are still eligible to order the handset for you from the warehouse. SO if you have the ESRP plan, and they tell you they cannot replace it - CALL *2 IMMEDIATELY and get ahold of Customer Service. THEY will set the rep in the store straight. It will take a few days to get the handset at the store, but they can order it for a replacement unit - DONT LET THEM TELL YOU OTHERWISE!

Well, remember that you are talking about two different entities. Asurion is a seperate insurance company and will keep a different stock than the Sprint stores.
