NRG, I think what he is talking about here (and me too when I said the mr x cab worked with HTC messaging) is that when you go to the messaging tab and just click on the message on the screen, it opens up in what looks like a newer htc messaging.. But if you go to the messaging tab, and then click on all messages and then click on the text message, it comes up in what looks like windows messaging..

Another email reader? A newer version of chm reader?

Have you tried installing a third party email program? There are several out there but the one I used to use the most is called Flexmail and can be found HERE. That should sort out the need for uninstalling the cab just to check your mail. TMK it won't integrate too well with the email tab, but it doesn't sound like you're using it much right now anyway.

I have a quick question if anyone has an answer. I am running Energy.RHODCDMA.23549 and when looking at the active data connection it displays that I am connected to the Sprint network, despite that I am using Verizon. I assume that this is just a glitch, and that I am actually connected to VZW (because everything seems to work fine, and in my phone settings it has everything set to VZW), but I just found it odd. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

Go to Tools -> Carrier Provisioning and select Verizon. It'll install the cab. Whenever you flash, make this the first thing you do.
