Use the cab from the last page and lumex. Initially my battery lasted until noon on this rom after running both of the above its now 8.30pm my phone came off charge at 6am and with moderate usage i'm at 68%......


Love this rom and with the battery mods its amazing, can't wait for the 2.5 manila port and it will be perfect for me....

I had to uninstall it - it started resetting my phone and eats battery. The GPS was also real spotty. I'm on 9/20 ROM.

Dude it has been a minute since I used mencoder. LOL
My machine here lost my drive with Linux installed and I have yet to replace it.
Guessing it is probably something to do with the way mencoder and ffmpeg codes the files.
If you can upload one to say rapidshare in that format I would be more than happy to test it here.

I could always run a Linux live DVD and try to code one but not sure if I want to right now.
What Linux distro are you running?

Just came across on old DVD with videos made while I was running Mandrake/Mandriva, Slax, Ubunto or some such. LOL
Not sure which distro I was running at the time.
Distros are like roms, gotta test em all.

I am gonna load some onto my device and see what happens.

You are correct my friend.
Kinoma will not play AVI files coded with mencoder or ffmpeg.
Shows WMP icon but even WMP will not play it and neither will Core.
Tested them on the PC with Vista and they play with
QuickTime, and also Nero Showtime.
WMP on Vista will only play the audio.

You could try re-encoding them to another format but other than that IDK.
Not sure if we can make Kinoma see other codecs or not. Hmmm

so i played around with registry keys and I find something that works:

Just change the following as below:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\Versions]
"Aku"=".5.3.00"

Tada it will work

I have no problem playing the videos using all the Core Media Player for WM versions I've tried from 0.69 up to my current version of 1.3.2 build 6909.

I've been using linux for over 12 years and have gone through just about every distro there is.
Currently I'm using Ubuntu 9.04 on 2 systems (including a notebook) and 8.10 on another two. The one I use to transcode is a my 'server' with 4TB of Array space for all my PVR recorded shows transcoded to divx using the mpeg4 vcodec. I have loaded a divx codec from divx.com on a few PCs which then lets WMP play them. Also the DivXplayer that you get from divx.com plays them well. So, I don't think the transcode is bad, its just that WMP and Kinoma lack the codecs to play them natively.

I'm on 9/20 - Under device Information should the ROM version say September 05 2009 and the ROM date say 07/09/09 ? I just noticed it. Is that right? My operator version does say EnergyROM Genesis

Ah yes....
Confirmed and it is working.
No soft reset needed either.
Do the edit and then run MS Marketplace.
Do the update and install the new cab and BINGO.
