Re: *21 Feb* UPD 15: SSK 1.5M *8* OS Kitchen incl WM6.5 Build 21159 and OS 21015 ROM

SCOTT - I saw you mention that you had gone back to the verizon stock radio, that you were getting faster GPS locks with it. I decided to try some back to back tests and consistently found exactly as you claimed... I get GPS locks WAY faster on the Verizon 1.03 or whatever version, I always forget but the stock radio.

I went from getting 4-7 locks in about 30 seconds, to getting 6-10 locks in about 12 seconds! I switched back and forth a couple times and it was very consistent for both. Meanwhile, my signal strength stayed the same, and Bob has already shown battery life is the same.

I encourage everyone on the Sprint radio to do some testing with GPS tool and see if you dont get the same results!

Also, I did try 21015 for most of the day, and honestly I didnt see any speed increase vs. 20954 (20954 has so far been easily the fastest build I've tried, and I've tried all of the 6.1 builds that Scott has made available in his kitchens).

I still feel that 20954 and 20931 are the two best builds, they each have things they do better, but are very close overall. I went back to 20954, didnt feel like spending the time setting up another rom and have good, fully set up backups for 931 and 954.

Love reading your posts, bast!
Always very informative and very nicely done! Thank you for the great info!

I do wanna toss my 2¢ in on the radio thing.
I am one that believes that results will vary based on where your geographical location is.

Personally i find the same GPS sat locking results you get on the ZVW radio, with the sprint radio... 9-12 sats, always in less 15 seconds. I feel like i get slightly better reception as well (but i live in an area that is more rural than not, so not a ton of towers around here). and of course you are correct, bob pretty much definitively settled the battery question for us.

My advice on radios would be try them out, see which one works best for you in your area!

PS... i'm leaning towards the same opinion about OS's... think i'll ultimately end up back on 20931.

Are you on 21015 now? Care to elaborate on why you like 20931 better?

I'm getting ready to flash again and I am still a bit undecided on what OS to use....I would like to make this one a bit more permanent...I have some tweaking I want to try....

Yeah, i flashed it this morning... and dude, this is sooo subjective, i want to preface this by saying you should totally check it out for yourself, and you be your own judge... you're the only one that can say exactly what your needs are... yada yada yada, you know, all that regular preamble stuff...

But... i dont know, for me 20931 just felt more stable... and ultimately i am willing to forgo speed in lieu of stability.
NOW, i'm not at all saying that 21015 was unstable... i'm just saying that for me and the apps i load and the settings i use, i just noticed less random system quirkiness and pauses, and more over all fluidity with 20931.

But again... if you have the time... i would definitely check it out and see if it's for you.

Yes, I agree about the radio. VZW Stock is always best for us. Disagree about the builds. I think 21015 is the fastest. Its all opinion no way we can really quantify this..../

Haven't read through all of this, but just so you know (in case you don't already).... 21015 is a patched 21014.

It's pretty much the same thing if you went through and applied typical fixes like htmlnote.dll and such.

cheers,
juicy

Is anyone else having trouble changing the input method? Using the new kitchen C2 I am not able to change from the default keyboard...
