I have it working now. I did flash to 1.56. I was having other issues and decided to start with a clean slate. Now the kitchen is working. I have question about the lock screen. If I change it to a picture and later decide that I want it back to being a transparent screen is there a way to change it back without flashing the rom again?

Download the kitchen. there is an option to clear the lockscreen cache and it will bring back the transparency.

Hey, I know its not a perfect fix but u could install pdanet til u get an answer on the tethering.
