Not sure what the problem could have been, i tried it twice with no luck.

I tried flashing a different rom as well...same problem....and now my backup isnt working!!!! OH NO!

EDIT1: It worked once, before i tried flashing a new rom....i wiped, then cache wiped, twice each and now trying restore from backup again.

EDIT2: After wiping twice, tried the backup again and it worked. Going to try wiping and loading the rom now, maybe thats the problem.

EDIT3: Turns out I needed to wipe default data AND cache....then install the rom. Booted right up for me! WOO!
Another happy wiper! Congrats! I've read instructions that recommend 2 wipes per each storage area.
We were talking about the wipe yesterday:

Yes we can add delete files from the folder as we see fit (dont touch anything but apps!)
If you add anything to data\app it's uninstallable post flash. If you put anything into System\app you wont be able to uninstall it (as per OMJ) post flash. You can delete files from System\app prior to flash.

Placeholder? Dunno. Google?
Not sure why your looking for the Sprint Hotspot files but the Android tether app (Wireless Tether) installed does the same thing (not sure on the number of devices)
Hope that helps.

EDIT:Just reading some more and some apps aparently dont like running from Data\app such as anything from HTC, just a heads up, be careful with what you mess with.

As usual, winmonewbie, thanks! I just want to remove a bunch of apps I know I will never use. I've noticed a few of them sporadically running when I'm killing tasks. As with Sprint Hotspot, I dont want to accidentally run it and incur charges. I figure that we have a new wifi app running within, why leave it on there?

I wouldn't use it at all if anyone knew why my exchange account wont sync my calender.
I feel ya! I'm in the same area and what burns the most is the fact that my Clear card works great. (Arlington has fairly good WiMAX coverage as per http://www.clear.com/coverage). You would think if the Clear card has service, so should the EVO. Sadly, for me, that isn't the case. I rarely get a good signal. When I do, it's usually on parts of GB & 35. I suppose we just have weak antennas on our EVOs.

A friend of mine had this issue, turns out he had killed the clock with ATK. Not sure if you did as well, but it may be worth a look.

Only OMJ can say why he left it on there but some programs are better left on the OS and not utilized since removing breaks something else.
As far as using it accidentally, I wouldn't sweat it. I watched a turtorial on it from Sprint and I'm 99% sure you need a PIN/Access code from Sprint to log on. Could be wrong on that but still, the chance of using it accidentally and incurring charges is nil. Sprint's got TIGHT control over it I'm sure

Have been on vacation in New York for over a week and deprived of my new EVO sitting at home waiting. Finally rooted and flashed to your new rom OMJ. Must say, thanks again and congrats on being a MOD. Look forward to all your updates.
