i Cant download the rom......

This webpage is not available.

The webpage at ftp://up.ppcgeeks.com/EVO/Users/OMJ/...clair_v1.3.zip might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address.

Any ideas???

I am a super EVO newbie myself...I had to sync my TP2 with outlook and then export them as csv and import on gmail.com...it worked flawlessly.

OMJ, from my understanding, If I add any apk to data--->app folder then it will automatically be installed when flashing the ROM (i noticed task killer, hz manager, titaniumbackup, rommanager, palringingo, queueman, and placeholder). So if I didn't want any of these programs, I can just delete them, correct?

With that train of thought, I noticed that the Amazon MP3 is in system-->app folder. Can I just delete the amazon mp3, twitter, facebook, friendstream, footprints, teeter, etc)?

Also, what is placeholder? and which file installs Sprint Hotspot?

Thanks - I figure the lighter the load on the phone, the snappier the phone.

I'm certainly not OMJ but I can help you out-
Yes we can add delete files from the folder as we see fit (dont touch anything but apps!)
If you add anything to data\app it's uninstallable post flash. If you put anything into System\app you wont be able to uninstall it (as per OMJ) post flash. You can delete files from System\app prior to flash.

Placeholder? Dunno. Google?
Not sure why your looking for the Sprint Hotspot files but the Android tether app (Wireless Tether) installed does the same thing (not sure on the number of devices)
Hope that helps.

EDIT:Just reading some more and some apps aparently dont like running from Data\app such as anything from HTC, just a heads up, be careful with what you mess with.

You can back up your contact to your SD card. I also sync all my contact with Gmail / Google.

Ok is anyone else experiencing the uhhhh well suckyness of 4G coverage. I'm in the Dallas/Fort Worth area where it has been deployed for about 8 months and the speed is awesome when I can get a signal but when most of the time it just causes disconections when switching between 3g and 4g with wifi tether oh and I also haven't been able to get HTC sync to work. I wouldn't use it at all if anyone knew why my exchange account wont sync my calender.

Re: OMJ's HTC EVO 2.1 Custom ROM | Eclair | *Updated | 6/10/10*

Just wanted to say that i flashed this rom and when i did my first boot it just replayed the "Sprint 4g" intro video on the phone over and over endlessly. I couldnt get the rom to load at all...i had to use a backup to get my phone back to normal.

Not sure what the problem could have been, i tried it twice with no luck.

I tried flashing a different rom as well...same problem....and now my backup isnt working!!!! OH NO!

EDIT1: It worked once, before i tried flashing a new rom....i wiped, then cache wiped, twice each and now trying restore from backup again.

EDIT2: After wiping twice, tried the backup again and it worked. Going to try wiping and loading the rom now, maybe thats the problem.

EDIT3: Turns out I needed to wipe default data AND cache....then install the rom. Booted right up for me! WOO!
