Re: OMJ's HTC EVO 2.1 Custom ROM | Eclair | *Updated | 6/18/10*

OMJ, I am loving the ROM. Almost everything is working great. The only problem I am having is wireless tethering. It force closes everytime I click on the green icon in the program. That is it. Everything is great.
I have tried reflashing, I have wiped and I have tried both the 1.4a and 1.4r with the same results.

Tp

I got word back from ROM Manager admin, that the program automatically checks for updated roms every night @ midnight, so we'll see if it does.

Re: OMJ's HTC EVO 2.1 Custom ROM | Eclair | *Updated | 6/18/10*

I'm glad I got around to flashing this phone finally. Its not quite as simple as the WM days but easy enough once you get the hang of it. Only weird thing I've noticed is the phone will delete APK files from various folders all by itself. Its crazy. I had some in a folder called myAPK and it deleted every one of em.

As to the wifi tethering it force closed on me the first time I tried it. I opened the superuser app to see what it said then I opened the wifi app again and it worked fine.

Re: OMJ's HTC EVO 2.1 Custom ROM | Eclair | *Updated | 6/18/10*

OMJ..

Love the ROM. Had the same wifi tethering issue but I just uninstalled/reinstalled the app and it works fine.

The only problem I have is with 4g. Even with the 10 to 300 fix (from XDA) I can't seem to get 4g to work consistently. It works occasionally but it's much worse then when I turn it off and just use 3g. This isn't a problem with the stock Sprint ROM but it is with every custom ROM as far as I can tell.... not sure if you can do anything about it for now but just something to keep your eyes on.

Thanks again.

It's showing the 1.5 test you placed when pressing "Check For ROM Updates".

so...OMJ, if we have the premium rom manager will we now get automatic updates to the rom OTA ?

also, is there any possible way to enable HDMI output for all applications? this is ridiculous that it will only work with youtube and gallery. for instance the newly available Slingplayer app will not work with HDMI out and this is a big problem for me. any way you could fix it would rule.

OMJ, amazing ROM. I just wanted to say that I did the same thing...uninstalled and reinstalled wireless tethering and it worked fine. No more forceclose.

When I go into ROM Manager everything is grayed out (minus the Recovery section/top two items). Thus I'm unable to click on Check for ROM Updates.

Any ideas on why?

this is because v1.4 is the 1st rom w/ the code needed for OTA updates, so if you're on v1.3, it does not have that code & ROM Manager does not know what version you're on. Once you're on v1.4, it will show u the version you're on & when checking for updates, will check for a new version.

I am going to use a dummy v1.5 to do some testing

I'm glad you like it Riley!

Thanks Dash, I appreciate you doing the video, I will add it to post #1
Thanks for the response I'm new to the whole andoird world, came over from winmo. Sorry for being a newb at this.

Understood on the 1.4 part.

I had a bit of an adventure trying to get to 1.4.

The funny thing is I selected to download 1.4 in rom manager with the new radio, it did the download and flash thing and then the radio showed as upgraded but the software info for the rom didn't show the 1.4 version. (Queman was removed so it was hard to tell if it was a good flash)

So I went back and tried to flash it manually, and I downloaded 1.4 and flashed and got the same results with the latest Clockworkmod recovery console.

Next step was I went back to the base sprint rom with an RUU. Followed the steps in: "EVO Full Root|Recovery|Nand Backup/Restore|Flashing for n00b's Instructions & Videos" did the data wipe 2x dalvik-cache 2x etc and the first boot after the flash of OMJ 1.4 r.zip, the device showed 1.3 in the software info. Then things went wrong, next boot sdcard said it was removed and to put in a new one, USB wasn't being detected.

I sdcard and usb bricked my device. So some really handy steps by Calkulin and I got USB back up and now I'm sitting back at the stock sprint rom.

From File: RUU_Supersonic_1.32.651.6_Radio_1.39.00.05.31_rele ase_171253_signed.exe

-

Any suggestions on the best steps to upto OMJ 1.4? Does it sound like I messed up on the nand unlock or are there better steps to follow?

Tap the top Option-Flash ClockworkMod Recovery. That'll set up the app.
