All you have to do is delete htclockscreen.apk from /system/app
One small glitch though-you wont be able to turn off your alarm clock.
The easiest solution is to intall a 3rd party alarm clock and you should be golden.
(I tried to install the deskclock.apk from 2.1 posted on geekforme but it wouldnt install)
EDIT:Oops, he DID upload them

Sprint has said this update will NOT erase your data-confirmed by a few posts I've read and as you said.
(Yeah I have NO idea how that Dude could do a wipe and still have his ish ) EVERY chef says to wipe but you could always be a Test Pilot and just do it without wiping
I dont know WHAT data Sprint was saying wont be erased but I DO know some of the system data from 2.1 wont work on 2.2 so I dont think the data.img is the way to go. Could be wrong.
I used Titanium backup for my apps, no biggie, installed all of them back in a few minutes. Contacts and Calendar are restored with gmail so I was all set.
In the end resetting up the ROM is a small price to pay for a seat on the Test Flight

yeah, the stock OTA update wont erase the settings, after examining the update-script in the OTA, it was clear thats what they were doing...

for all the flashaholics out there, I would recommend using one of the apps I have included in the rom & backup your apps & data. that way you're relying on the market to redownload....plus it's got to be a hellofa lot easier

I was thinking of using ROM manager to install this Froyo release.
I've used titanium backup and also did a nandroid backup in prep.
Question, has anyone used ROM manager to do a succesfull Rom install with this release? I ususally do it in recovery mode.
I am currently running OMJ's 1.7 ROM 1.
Thanks.

Yeah ROM mgr will work, but I prefer flashing via recovery....oh, and I dont like the clockworks recovery

Yeah it may hang at this screen after the radio flash....what I do is manually wipe the CACHE, then reboot

I really believe the base I'm using will be the official.....there are no camera issues, it's working fine....yes, this rom is rooted.
if u do a nand backup, you have nothing to be scared of. flash away, experiment, etc....if something goes bad, boot into bootloader, then recovery & restore your nand backup & your back to where u started.
there are some ppl on here (I wont mention any names
) that keep a nand back of several different ROMs to switch between
