I downloaded the file and opened the app.reg in Notepad and I can see all the stuff that can be changed. I would like to know how to convert between HEX and Decimal in MS Calculator though. Does that automatically add the letter in some of the numbers (for instance, "Seconds to Dim (Battery)" is currently set at "0000001e" in your file. I don't know how to convert Decimal to HEX in Windows Calculator (sorry).
It's fairly easy, actually, once you know how. Open the calculator, click view, and select scientific. Type the decimal number, then just click on the Hex button. Same works in reverse (enter Hex value, click Dec). You don't have to enter all the preceding zeros for hex unless you really feel like it. I would try to keep the zeros in the app.reg though (I'm not sure what'd happen otherwise).

It's just like setting the brightness manually, then deciding to turn auto adjust on. The settings will still be there for when you turn it off; however, they have no bearing on the brightness while auto adjust it on.

Oh. Yeah, that is easy. So, I typed "120" in and it gave me 78, would I just type "78" into the app.reg file? Why do some of the other entries have letters in them?

Yep, it's as simple as that.

The ones with letters are still numbers. If you enter "A" in Hex then click Dec, it comes out as 10. Some decimal numbers will give you letters in hex, it's just how hex works. Just copy whatever the result is in hex to the app.reg file.

Oh. Okay, cool. Few more Qs here. First, is it a bad thing if few to none of those entries are in my registry now? Also, the last two entries, "Seconds to Screen Off" (battery and plugged in), what is the difference between "ACSuspendTimeoutSave" and "ACSuspendTimeout" (same thing in the other one)?

Thanks.

That EXT was made with a 6.5.x ROM in mind. I would have thought that the entries should have been the same for 6.1, but I'm guessing that isn't the case. You can try running a search in your registry for the keys that you cannot find, as it's possible they are in a different location. You could also try running a search for the values as well (eg, searching for the DWORD "1E" should eventually bring up the entry where the 30 seconds to dim is).

Other than searching your registry, I don't really know what else to tell you. I haven't used 6.1 in a while now.

To be honest, I don't know why there are two entries, but when I first went trying to figure out how set my backlight settings (as you are now) I noticed that both entries were present and had the same value, so I added them both to my app.reg file.

Just tried your suggestion (except with "3C", 'cuz 60 seconds represents at least one of my settings), but I cannot find anything. Do I perhaps have to put Zeros before it? Does this search work in 6.5?

Hmmm... Well, I'll keep looking, and I'll be sure to keep you posted on this one. Hopefully I can set defaults for other registry related items in the meantime. And if you (or anyone else) would like to answer some more Qs, I've got some more.
When you're customizing a ROM with the registry like this, does the same tweaks and settings apply to Manila? For instance, I want to have the tabs prearranged in a way that makes more sense and change the "internet" shortcut on the home of the Manila plugin to "Comm Manager" by default instead of having to change it. Do you know where to find the registry settings for Manila (I know which ones they are for the other apps, 'cuz they are simple "single folder" items in the kitchen, but manila is more "spread out")? Thanks. You've been really helpful to the ROM.

If you're using the editor in Dotfred's task manager, then you don't need the zeros. I am not sure about other registry editors though.

I believe this post will help you with the shortcuts:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...75&postcount=4

As far as rearranging the tabs, try looking in
Code:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila\Configuration\#]
where # is actually the tab position (0 = 1st tab, 1 = 2nd tab, and so on).
It's much easier to look at this on a computer, so I'd recommend exporting that part if you can, and messing with the numbers from there.
Make an app.reg file with it set up how you like, and the tabs should be prearranged. : )

Hmmm... That's a tricky one. How many zeroes would I need? Is the number of required zeroes dependent on the number of digits (3C, etc.) that come after them?

Thanks so much man. That really helped. Could you or someone double check the file I made though (check attachment) to make sure I've got the process down how I'm supposed to be doing it.

True. I took your advice and exported the entire 'HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Manila" registry directory and exported it. Since all of the adjustments are already made on my device, little to no additional tweaking was necessary. I went ahead and saved a new folder labeled "Manila Tweak by me" or something to that effect, put the new "app.reg" file in, and boom. Is that it? Will it all get replaced properly when it is flashed?

- 2 Bunny

PS: After this, I would replace my old "Manila SoftKeys Tweak" folder, right, since all the tweaks are now included in one app.reg file?

I honestly don't believe you'd need the zeros, but if you wish to add them, just add enough zeros so there are eight digits total (eg, 0000003C, 00000708, etc)

Looks like it's right (just tried your entries, and they work for me).

Yep, that's it. The only suggestion I do have though is you might want to add a "z" in front of the folder name. Ervius kitchen writes it files to the ROM in 0-9,A-Z,etc order (basically, top to bottom as they appear in the kitchen). If for some reason there is a registry setting in one of your manila packages that also happens to be what you're making these app.reg files to alter, the *lowest* one on the list will overwrite the ones on top. For example you may tweak the weather location in your "Manila Tweak" package, but say there's a package named "Manila Weather". It would come after alphabetically and overwrite your tweak. Making it "zManila Tweak" places it after everything. Just something you might want to keep in mind.

Yep. I like to have my tweaks in separate EXT packages, but having all your tweaks in a single app.reg is fine as well.

Odd. I'll keep looking - maybe the entries' values aren't in HEX or something.

Good Point. I think I might do that, just to make sure it puts it all in the right order.
It does all the folders at once in this alphabetical order, right? It wouldn't do first the "EXT>6.1>A-z" folders, then the "EXT>Common>A-z" folders, etc, would it?

Sounds good.
Now to just "pre tweak" Advanced Config and Diamond Tweak. LOL! The registry entries it creates aren't the configuration entries. I'll do a bit more digging and keep you guys posted if it needs more work.
