Re: *UPDATED* [11-19-08] Juicy ROM 3.5.1 [SYS OS 5.2.19972 Build 19974.1.2.3] [UC]

Is this Internet Sharing (undetectable modem tethering) like the previous "modem tethering fix". Because, if I try to run the Modem Tethering Fix (works with 2.5) on 3.5, my internet sharing doesn't work at all.

1. Power off phone
2. Hold down enter button (center round button)
3. While holding down enter button, press and hold down vol button
4. Whild holding down enter button and down vol button, press and hold power button
5. Wait a few seconds, screen should come up grey saying to press vol down button again to do a restore. Release buttons and press vol down button
6. Screen comes back saying restore is done and press vol up button to complete

Actually, I think you are correct. I don’t think the reset utility completely erases all the information from memory like the 4 finger “claw” of death does. One of Juicy’s older .roms would completely lockup on my phone when I launched TouchFLO. While I was unable to get it to work, others were having no problems. I used the utility to reset it many times without success. It wasn’t until I hard reset the device that I got it working properly on my phone. There was something in memory that wasn’t getting cleared out using the utility. Since, I have used the button method every time without problem...

I have a question about this. I'm flashed up to 3.0 and plan to upgrade to 3.6 when it's available, but as I recall, when I upgrade to 3.6, I'll run the RUU and choose the 3.6 upgrade file... isn't that essentially doing a hard reset by placing that ROM on the phone or am I missing something? I've only done this a few times.
I guess I'm missing the point of needing to hard reset when you flash a new ROM. Sorry, for the dumb question, still learning and couldn't find a direct answer elsewhere in the thread.

Try Total Commander. It's free and easy to use. You can edit registry very easily with TC. Just remember to soft reset after changes so they can become in effect.

Yes and no. Yes it is technically a hard reset when you flash a new rom but no it's not restoring to previous. It's just a good practice to hard reset after a flash to make sure nothing is left over from the previous rom version/stock rom and it doesn't act buggy because of something that is left over from a previous flash/stock rom.

It sounds like I could equate this (in terms I might understand) to a software upgrade. If you install a new version over an older version versus doing an uninstall and then install of a newer version, it is a cleaner method. Is that a fair comparison?

I guess I thought flashing meant that an 'image' of the entire phone OS and programs basically wiped the slate clean, but it doesn't quite sound like that.

Yeah, I'm sure we all checked our settings and made sure location setting was "on" and com4 was set. TT-7 and Igo-8 flat out don't work with Juicy 3.5 nor 3.5.1.Those of us who use these programs extensively are anxiously awaiting 3.6 which I believe will have a 20xxx build. Hopefully this will solve the problem in an otherwise brilliant rom!
