Let's say it can for kicks. So, there are 1024 MB in each GB, and 1024 KB in each MB, or 1,048,576 KB in a GB. So Buring 210KB a second you use 12,600 KB/min and 756,000 KB an hour, or about 6.9 hours total to burn 5GB - or looking at it the other way, you're allowed about 14 minutes a day "full out" data usage at that speed to stay under the cap. Send him your touch I'm lucky to get 60-100KB/sec on my mogul with Rev A, so I could go at least 2-3 times as long. If it was plugged in, and sitting on top of a block of dry ice to keep it from melting... |

Re: Sprint 5GB internet cap
It can. You don't see it often, but some lucky people are in areas with plenty of bandwidth and not too many users. The best I've gotten was about 2.4mbps. Too bad I can't get that all over

Re: Sprint 5GB internet cap
Here is a link to a Yahoo Story about the cap. It states it is only for the broadband cards, but who really knows.

And we're talking throughput here, not raw speeds, since the 5GB cap would be for bytes pushed through the pipe sans all the various extra bits wrapped around it. I would expect no one could average 200+KB/sec for 7 hours straight on an EVDO RevA connection. But it would be fun to try. Just don't leave the phone in your pocket while you try But at this point we're splitting rabbits. Two things are clear 1) its a cap meant to trip up specific usage patterns and 2) with sprint TV, Sprint actually sells you one of the usage patterns they then turn around and flag as "excessive use" Should be fun. Let's watch.... |
