Burst speeds, sure. Sustained? Probably not even in a Lab.

And we're talking throughput here, not raw speeds, since the 5GB cap would be for bytes pushed through the pipe sans all the various extra bits wrapped around it.

I would expect no one could average 200+KB/sec for 7 hours straight on an EVDO RevA connection. But it would be fun to try. Just don't leave the phone in your pocket while you try

But at this point we're splitting rabbits. Two things are clear

1) its a cap meant to trip up specific usage patterns and
2) with sprint TV, Sprint actually sells you one of the usage patterns they then turn around and flag as "excessive use"

Should be fun. Let's watch....

Re: Sprint 5GB internet cap

all im saying is, when its all said an done, most data users are just going to suck it up and stick with sprint... because they would be paying a hell of a lot more anywhere else.. and prolly with slower speeds

All I know is I've received about 500 from everyone in the last month and a half, so i'm going to blaim you

On another note, as for the most I ever used in one month, I deliberately tried to pocket surf as much as possible one month in addition to streaming high quality internet radio 5-9 hours a day 6 days a week and all I used was somewhere around 2.9 gb. Unless I start using pam, I doubt I'll ever reach 5gb.

Re: Sprint 5GB internet cap

I went into the sprint store today and asked them they really dont know anything about it. and were shocked. But we did come to the conculsiion if they did it might be for roaming only, since thats were the cost is mainly coming from. and plus putting a cap on the unlimited would not make much sense. Expection of roaming also the 3G phones were people are using the phone as a modem and paying dirt cheap for internet cost could be another one so putting a cap on our cell phones internet would make sense but then again it would suck lol cuz alot of people watch sprint tv on the phones now and they advertise it. so idk

Re: Sprint 5GB internet cap

Here is a link to a Yahoo Story about the cap. It states it is only for the broadband cards, but who really knows.

Re: Sprint 5GB internet cap

Sprint is just following suite of all the other carriers. Everyone has capped data usage. Sprint estimates that it will only affect 5% of the subscribers. Still sucks but yea
