Getting the initial cold fix takes a while because the GPS does not know where the hell you are, so it has to guess and look for satellites. Once it knows generally where you are, it will get them much faster. You'd have a similar issue if you traveled a long distance without GPS being on, it wouldn't find any satellites then have to start over with a cold fix again.

As far as a fix for having to run google maps or some other intermediary driver aware app to use other GPS apps, I know that at least Tekmaven and I are working on one such fix, which should blanket pretty much any GPS app out there.

Isn't there some program that will help fix that if you're having the issue? QuickGPS or something like that? Mine took a bit the first time but ever since then its been cake. Was like 5 minutes with the phone at my window for the first time.

Thank you.

I am very new (see post count). Had my phone only a month and its my first PPC. I updated with the file missing the last e. Worked the first time. Like others have said, at 11% heard beeps, usb connect disconnect.. I left it alone and it finished the job. Gps working and damn accurate.=D> Thanks to everyone on this site. I made it all the way to page 24 before I dloaded and installed.

Everything is working as far as I can tell.

Change your vision user name or password, and it should automatically send the updates to your device (re-provision).

The standard "may take up to 4 hours" thing is in effect, but usually it happens right away.
I love you!!!

I've been playing around with this for most of the day now. I've gotten to the point where I'm fairly happy with my set up, but after I put a custom audiopara on and soft-reset, I get no audio from anything.

I searched the thread, but there was nothing about audiopara. Anyone got anything to help?

search for reg-edit tweaks, there are 3 cabbed versions, seems most prefer the 'coarse'

Thanks KmartBurrito for sharing this update. Followed your instructions to the letter. Loaded just fine, including hang-up at 11%. Everything is working great. Even got my TomTom PPC software to recognize the GPS signal. Much thanks!
