Re: iPhone users

I've been a long time WM user and I've played with several iPhones for extended periods. Obviously, neither device is perfect and both were initially aimed at different markets. The iPhone has WM beat handily in speed, reliability, software availability (games and gimmicks), browser, battery life (main), accessory availability and overall cool factor. WM, specifically the TP wins if you need to edit office docs, ui tweaking, removable battery, multi tasking, and hardware keyboard. If you really want to make your TP feel like a slug, go to a at&t store and play with a 3gs for a while, the speed and responsiveness difference is really disturbing. The biggest shortcoming of the iPhone for me is at&t, who's coverage is surprisingly poor in many major markets (particularly my own, NYC/LI). If Apple were to also offer the iPhone to Verizon or Sprint, it would devastate all the other feature phone and smart phone mfgs with the exception of RIM. What is truly striking about the difference between them is how the iPhone evolves while WM with the exception of a little pretty wallpaper to cover the cracks, stagnates. There's always the promise that the next version will change things, but it never does. MS is so paralyzed by the fear of loosing grip on its big enterprise clients who never want any change that they've let the personal market go. In their paralysis they missed the driving force for these devices present and future and let the whole market slip between their fingers into Apple and RIM's hands. Also, for all those who tout ROM availability for the TP as a plus, think again. There's no need of a quest for just that little bit more speed or stability with the iPhone when it's already there. Of course putting a question like this here much less a poll is like asking to choose between car manufacturers at a Corvette owners club.

Re: iPhone users

I have been a winCe user since wit was released, but I wont be as delusional as most. The only thing that sucks about the iphone is that it is on crappy at&t otherwise it blows away any winmo device by a mile. Besides all the superio design features always mentioned. Not only is the screen multitouch, but it is transflextive so you can take it it max sunlight and see the screen just like inside where you cant really see the TPs screen very well at all. The original Ipaq had this type of screen and was made by HTC. Htc is a terrible device manufacturer. They have made hundreds if not thousands of deviced over the last decade for companies like HP then broke out on their own and still to this day they cant put out a truly reliable device. The Tp cant play video great because of driver problems.... Damn that was bthe same excuse they made with the Ipaq. Apple come out with a device on the first try that pisses on all htc devices. Winmo is so antiquated, every release since Ce2.0 was underwhelming. All the client software in winmo has barely evolved. Look at the email cllient it has barely changed.. Click here to view internet pics and to scroll... you cant eve zoom to view pics with small print, it is just a terriible piece of antiquated software.

Yeah having a locked down device sucks because it is harder to install cracked warez but guess what that is why pretty much all winmo software is bad and any of the good software free or pay is lasking in development because they are beibg abandoned for iphone and android dev so they can make a living. Guess what... programming good software aint easy.

Ipod - toy Winmo - business? I just done see it. Iphone can remote access, print, and seems to do everything winmo can do and a LOT more, but most importantly it is far more reliable. You can be out in the fireld with a client in the sun totally see your screen and execute an app where on TP or equiv you could barely see the screen, not finger friendly and pray that your app wont lock up because with winmo murphys law says it will def lockup when you actually need it..

I do think it is funny however that when I visited the apple store a few months ago, their wireless pos scanners they used to scan items and print reciepts had "Pocket PC" on them. I was giving them **** about it. Saying you guys cant use what you sell... An apple store that uses M$ to collect the money :-0

Re: iPhone users

I'm a devoted WM user but sometimes I just wish my phone would just work. Ex: Yesterday - fireworks, the keys were flickering on and off, but Juicy 8 wouldn't bring up my slide to talk...

I bet an iPhone wouldn't have such a basic issue.

Re: iPhone users

I don't know about speed and reliability, I have played with a few of my friends iPhones and they don't just magically open up an application right away, in fact I have had one freeze on me trying to open a relatively simple application. So they aren't above doing the same things many other phones do.

Personally, I never want to own an Iphone. I have a few friends who have them. I'm like " big deal " and then go to show them how great my phone is and TF3D2 Crashes... lol

BTW -I was joking, TF3D2 is the most reliable UI in the whole world <wink>
Me neither, it just doesn't appeal to me. I have a Touch, I don't need or have a desire to make phone calls with it lol. TF3D2, come on over the the dark side of Titanium

Thumbs down Apps

I have a friend with an iPod touch, not an iPhone an iPod. He bragged on and on and also about the App store and all the bleh. I got bored and turned it on, launched S2U2 and showed him my Diamond. That shut him up.

Even though I don't have a TP, I think WM Rocks iPhone. The only good thing about it is the apps and multi-touch and 3+ inches screen. Can iPhone have video calls? Can iPhone rotate screen with G-sensor?

Re: iPhone users

I personally have owned both a winmo phone and currently the iphone 3gs. The iphone wins hands down. But this is simply because it does what I need it to do and i can do it without fighting to get it done. My winmo phone was slow and glitchy. I had to add all kinds of programs to get it to do what I needed, and the user interface was usting. Witg the iphone everything is right there. The iphone certainly has winmo beat with hardware as well. Whatsurprised me most of all, was that out of all the phones I had been looking at, all winmo excluding the iphone, the iphone was the least expensive. What it comes down to is a personal choice. Find a friend that has each and play with them for a while.

If this statement was true, then you wouldnt have to 'jailbreak' the iphone.
A good friend of my has one and I did that for him because he won one in some drawing at a company picnic. Its not the 3gs, its the version prior to that one, so I wont speak to much on the latest release, but I used his iphone when I dropped my phone down the stairs moving huge items to move to a new place and it hit the pavement 4 stories down after hitting many steps down, and everyone talks about its browser being superior, which is opinion, not a fact, i dont like pinching in, zooming too much, I can barely stand it on opera, hated it overly done on safari. Plus the browser is way too slow for me and doesnt support flash. I also couldnt stand the minscule sound from the speaker, which is easily fixed on my pro, I can play music and hear it alright or my fav radio talk show while i await a new headset in the mail, on the iphone, its not as easy a fix, that phone is too locked done, works on a closed source kernel, and you have to jailbreak it to do anything real with it, and apple is trying to make that operation illegal. For winmo, oh i hate the stock rom, so get another one, your statement is false. this is simple, a phone is a phone is a phone. What works for some, doesnt for others, I like funcyionality, others like fart apps and flashiness, its all what you like and what you need to get done, that simple, and who cares.

Sorry for the long rant
