Re: So will the HTC Raphael be the ultimate PPC?

Yeah, and this one may not apply to everyone, but at least for me, what brings the Raphael full circle is that it'll be on Sprint.

Re: So will the HTC Raphael be the ultimate PPC?

I think it looks great, although I've seen two things in various reports that make me wonder. One, the memory is only 256/125 which seems ridiculously small, especially when consumer phones are turning up with gigabyte storage.

Also, the battery seemed underpowered -- I think I read 900 mAh or something. I'd need about 10 of those to make it through the day with my Apache, so I'm hoping either HTC has come up with an incredible battery friendly technology or the specs I read were wrong.

Re: So will the HTC Raphael be the ultimate PPC?

They better make a small size battery like the touch's but with at least 1400-1500mAh.
So many of us touch users ***** about the battery 1100 is not enough. The Mogul 1500mAh is very decent not much complaints

256MB ROM/192MB RAM. RAM seems quite reasonable to me, and ROM is plenty. That's really only used for installing programs, and I think it's quite rare that anyone goes over that large amount. The microSD slot makes up for the rest, as it gives you unlimited memory, and it's where you'd want to store your music and videos anyway, since the ROM gets flashed every time you hard reset or update your firmware.

As for the battery, I expect similar performance as the stock Mogul battery. Although it's smaller, the new chipset is likely to consume less power, so it'll balance out. That said, the Mogul's battery life was awful for me, so I'll need an extended battery.

Re: So will the HTC Raphael be the ultimate PPC?

The question is, however, if someone will be able to make an OEM sized battery with an extended capacity.... I really hope so, because I don't want to have to worry about charging 24/7.
I think HTC wanted to keep costs to a minimum, but do they realize that this is a MULTIMEDIA phone? IDK.... I just still think that's strange.

And is it just me, or does anyone notice that the D-Pad rotates AND you can press up,down, left, right etc?

I'm sure both Seidio and Mugen will make batteries like you described, but I'll be holding out for extended-sized versions, as I did with the mogul. The small increase from the standard-size wasn't enough for me versus the cost. My 3200 mAh battery made me feel like I had a whole new phone.

Re: HTC bringing VGA displays to sprint: Raphael and Diamond

Also, the 900maH battery is likely just for the Diamond. The Raphael is rumored to have something closer to 1340.
