Help！ Need English Rom support Chinese

Arlen i have tried the above but with no luck... if you take any rom and stip out the operator customization in this case the unicode will work fine... i have tried that with bell's rom.. i used a kitchen and removed all operators folders and customization and all worked fine

1. Download CE-Star 2.8 Suits for WM5

2. Extract the zip file and locate the sunglobe.ttf and wince.nls files

3. Copy these to your \Windows directory on your mobile device

4. In your WM5 registry, under HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\ add a new key call FontLink. Then, under this newly added FontLink key add another key call SystemLink. You should now have the following in your registry:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\FontLink\Sys temLink

5. Now add the following 4 "String" values to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\FontLink\Sys temLink

Times New Roman \Windows\sunglobe.ttf,UniSun
Arial \Windows\sunglobe.ttf,UniSun
Courier New \Windows\sunglobe.ttf,UniSun
Tahoma \Windows\sunglobe.ttf,UniSun

6. Do a soft reset and you are done.

For the original ROM from Bell, the msgtype=2, if you did not add the operator OEM into the ROM, there should no "msgtype" in the ROM and you could use unicode also.

I wonder to know which language that you are using, English? Chinese? or others? If you are using other language, you should add the mother front into the ROM like night_of_dreams said.

thanks for the reply Arlen.. i'm using Arabic language and there is a program to add Arabic support to any version of WM and i can read and write fine.. the problem only happens when try to send Arabic SMS the other party will receive ??????? in bell's rom or ??????? in Sprint ROM.. i have tried changing the message type and other settings as well but still no luck with Bell or Sprint.. the SMS was sent fine on Alltel's ROM .. why only Alltel?! that's what i'm trying to find... also i have striped down Bell's and Sprint's and removed all of their customization and message sent fine... so there is a file or some sort of settings that prevents unicode support! and in my case it's not a font problem because i'm able to read and write!

Hi Arlen,

I'm with Bell and am using a rom made from the 20748 ppckitchen with Bell as carrier. I'm using English Rom but have added this cab that allows me to view chinese and type in chinese. I can read emails sent to me in chinese but the problem is sending email/sms in chinese and also receiving sms in chinese. I can send and reply to msn on my phone in chinese.

I've already tried everything in this thread to make unicode (chinese) work for sms and email but havent been successful. I even tried what you wrote earlier above. I already have that microsoft inbox setting, but doesnt help and I changed my msg type to 4 (8 bits + unicode) but that didn't do anything.

Any ideas on how to get this working? I'm tempted to try the rom you uploaded before to see if text is working there but then I don't want to reflash my radio as I think that came with a radio. Am I mistaken about that?

Also, since you're here, any ideas on how to get the chinese ime from the rom?

I already have something similar on my phone, it maybe the chinese cab that I added to allow me to view chinese as well as type.

I already have the fontlink\systemlink and have

Arial\windwos\sunfon.ac3,SC_Song
Courier New, Tohoma, Times New Roman there too but instead of sunglobe.ttf, as you can see I have sunfon.ac3 and instead of UniSun, I have SC_Song. I don't if know that will make a difference.

What you posted above, is that for us to be able to send sms/emails in chinese? or is it only to view and type them? if it's just the later, I can already do that. I wish to send sms in chinese as well as emails. Thanks for you help.

1) I guessed the cab file that you used for Arabic must include wince.nls and *.ttf or *.ac3 files which supports Arabic. If you are interesting to make a Arabic ROM, please contact me via Arlen1008@hotmail.com, I can help you to make a Arabic Vogue ROM, but please send me an original Arabic WM6.1 ROM to me in advance, I can help you modify it to Vogue.

2) For the Msgtype, please make sure the code type that Arabic needs. To my experiences, the Chinese ROM needs add the unicode support in the REG of inbox/setting and change the Msgtype to "2" or delete this line. I guess it will be ok for Arabic also.

I think your problem is not the MsgType, you'd better let me know the cab that you installed.
For Chinese support, it should have the Chinese wince.nls, fonts, related regs...
I will upload an Chinese font OEM folder tonight (China Time, ) for you, please copy the font file into the windows folder and load the RGU through REGedit tools.

It seems from 19208 original ROM and added Chinese support.
